I was looking at this camera with one of the varifocal lenses to record theatrical shows and concerts in my theater. my goal is to get a good wide shot of the stage. do you think it would work for something like that? It was between this camera and a Canon Vixia HF R800.

A camcorder will give you zoom and auto focus functions but the picture quality is better than a cheap camcorder or phone in my opinion

Yes a capture device is needed for this camera. I use the ATEM Mini with mine.

That can be controlled via the menu or over rs232. I have mine set to auto.

I would go the Canon route as the Aida Imaging camera is stationary without any zoom functions

Is it possible to have this camera feed into the Atem Mini Pro? Presumably because of the HDMI out on the Aida you can just do HDMI to HDMI into the Atem? Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
