It’s so interesting to see you draw in charcoal. Such a visceral, subtle, yet, vibrant expression of brain material. As a viewer, it’s very intriguing to watch. It seems you lack fear altogether. For quite a while. Perhaps, to its completion. You’re the envy of every artist I know, or at least myself. I have never, with such confidence, set down a final mark and sequentially celebrated the birth of a thing, as it is and will be. I believe I’ll get there though. Watching you helps. Thank you.

I actually missed your typical introduction. I was expecting you to sniff and taste the charcoal, feel the texture of the paper and give a brief introduction of what you were doing. It was very satisfying to listen to the sound of charcoal on the paper as your drawing took shape. Your little hand-clapping at the end brought a smile. Thank you for sharing your wonderful video.

How you are so confident in that medium escapes me! As a pencil artist I just can't work without the comfort blanket of a good eraser, whereas charcoal doesn't play well with erasers - even the putty types. At least not with me! I just end up with a giant smudge on the paper, black fingers and a sooty ball of play-doh.

I just realized hearing the dryness of the charcoal on the paper is actually very unnerving to me. It makes the tips of my fingers feel uncomfortable for some reason. I haven’t used charcoal in years.

Hullo Peter, you Sir are truly an amazing Artist! I am not a big fan of the ASMR videos, I just don’t get that tingling sensation or feeling that so many people have talked about. I have never been able to stay clean when using charcoal and I was quite worried when I started soft pastels! I have found that if I use a paper that has enough “tooth” the pastel will stay put! You can spend a lot of money on various papers, so much so that I looked into making my own surfaces! Liz Chaderton(right here on KZbin) has a great recipe for making a grand surface for “grabbing” the soft pastels and I imagine that it would help with charcoal too. I have used it on printmaking paper, watercolor paper, mat boards even Masonite sheets! I have had wonderful success keeping the pastels on the surface without expensive fixative sprays, it also does not change the colors from such spraying! I do miss your unique commentaries during your regular videos, but I appreciate your attempt to breakout of your usual style and try something different. I watch your videos on my feed and I believe that I will continue to be a fan! I enjoy more than just your drawing or painting. I enjoy hearing about you and your life and opinions too! I look forward to hearing more from you in the next video. Please take care, be safe and have a wonderful day.
