Ube is a root crop. It is available in other Asian countries just like mangoes. The difference is location because the Philippines is located right at the equator and makes the soil richer and hence the fruits are sweeter. Just compare Philippine mangoes from other Asian countries and you’ll find Philippine mangoes sweeter. Other countries have been planting and propagating mangoes from the Philippines but they do not get the same sweetness of Philippine fruits! Hope you enjoy the rest of your journey to the Philippines and if you happen to return, you need to visit Mindanao and Northern Luzon! It is an entirely different experience. If you get too hot, head over to Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines!
