we so used to prerecorded freestyles thats its refreshing to hear something authentic. Not everyone spits bars at 100 miles an hour and rhymes everytime. Kendrick went at his own pace and spat a lill sum and honestly this is it. Imagine questioning his pen.

What he's doing is way more advanced. It's actually more complex and more profound than any generic "100 mile an hour bars" and rigid nursary "rhymes every time" rhyme scheme. Dynamic rhyme schemes that keep his freestyle unpredictable, the flows, the lyricism. This man had truly mastered his craft from day 1. Side note: This is not a counterargument to the original comment

I was very fulfilled seeing this comment. Seems as if a little bit of that zany cartoonish, slightly violent nature is in the DNA of a lot of rappers that grew up watching him. Soon as I heard the LeBron line it took me back to writing Eminem style rhymes on receipt tape while I was stocking shelves.

Yo i can tell after you added your beat just because it was off a bit. Can tell he was probably doing acapella. But! In this case, not hating, you should maybe have done no snare? or brought it in once in awhile. Maybe just kicks, played with the hats and added dff percs for rhythm. Just to do it justice, and it won't feel out of pocket. It won't feel perfect either, but without the snare, less noticeable when it's hitting off. I'm saying this as a producer who doesn't do beats like that often 😅 gives you a good opportunity
