Same, but my parents treat me and my younger brother according to our ages. Sometimes I feel they spoil me too much, like treat me like a child younger than my age (I like it). So as an oldest child I can't relate to this. They treat my younger brother the way they treated me at his age. Btw, this (the way my parents treat us) is common in my country.

Nothing feels worse than getting As all throughout elementary, being exited to tell your parents and them being just as excited, then the reaction slowly fading into ‘well that’s just the expectation’ then the only response you get when you work your ass off in high school to have a 4.0 and they barely blink twice. Then you get another sibling, and the expectation for them is barely Cs because ‘they’re not like you, they’re like I was in high school.’

Listen to this: So my entire elementary and middle school life, I gave my parents straight As, except a couple of times in middle school where they were Bs. I'm going to eleventh grade. A couple of months ago, I got a C. My father got the audacity to start calling me a "C Student." I'm still hurt by this bullcrap. And now my youngest brother uses it on me in arguments, knowing it hurts. No one even cares anyway. I'm "just being too sensitive"

This is literally my life: I'm tired of having to go home afraid that someone will tell me something because I got an A- instead of an A/A+. I'm tired of always having to have a thousand responsibilities. I'm tired of being blamed for anything. And I’m not perfect, my sisters CAN’T be like me because my life isn’t the best. Finally someone who understands me. Thanks girl, I respect you 💕

I non stop study to make my parents proud as they're always digging into me that I need to work harder so I don't end up like them and I can achieve my dreams. This makes me extremely ambitious and rarely get to do things that I want to do. But they don't realise this. They always call me lazy and say I spend to much time in my room but it's were I do my work and the other bit of time I have left is what I would actually spend in my room. I'm really stressed out alot of the time but they don't think I can be because I'm "just lazy" and think I'm using it as an excuse. I rarely want to eat, I struggle with sleep and sometimes don't, I lack motivation but when I have motivation, I REALLY have it, I have so many procrastinating thoughts, I pull my hair, etc. but they don't realise any of it. However, teachers who barely know me know more of it than them and have even told them but my parents just ignored it and got worse. However, they're always bragging about my intelligence to their friends but then moan because I don't/can't help out with chores as much and constantly compare me to my cousin who always does chores because she doesn't focus on school work like I do and has time but she gets paid for it.

As an oldest child, I understand it. Something u have to remember, is that u can't do it alone. In middle school, I never hugged, talked to, or spent time with my little sister; bc I was afraid. She used to say she wanted to grow up and be like me, but I was anxious and depressed, and was afraid that she'd have to go through that hell too, if it rubbed off on her. I'm going into hs now, and I spend time with her now. I cry everytime I think about the amazing little person I forgot to watch grow up. I still feel the constant pressure for perfection, but I no longer am depressed. Remember, life is so much better if u choose not to do it alone. Pls don't do what I did. 💚

This is so accurate it’s insane. 24/7 I have to cancel my plans because my parents are going out and need me to watch my siblings. I’m missing this entire half term because my parents are going out. Today I got invited out with my friends to the mall, and my parents told me I couldn’t go because I had to take my 8 year old brother on a date. I used to have straight A’s all throughout primary school up until secondary when I’ve been seriously struggling in most lessons. The amount of nights I haven’t slept because I’ve been trying to study for an exam I know I’m gonna fail anyways. In all my exams I get better scores than my friends, I get better results than my siblings get, I still got told ‘it’s not good enough’ and I can’t even say anything back because they’ll ground me. I can’t wait until I’m 18 because the second I can move out I am and I’m never looking back

this is so true if my younger brother or cousins ever curse or do something wrong i always get the blame. if my younger brother hit someone its because i 'taught him' my dad and mom always give their attention to him and never to me but when i confronted them about it they said that im overreacting and that i should go spend time with them instead of staying in my room all day, and why don't i go to spend time with them its because every time i do i get in trouble for some reason and who's fault is that? my brother i might be dramatic for blaming my brother for everything but once he was born eveyone started hating me for no reason and say that he's a little angel and so kind, once he's around others he acts like a cute innocent child but once he's with me he's the most annoying person in my life. im the most hated person in my family and i always get blamed because im the oldest and i taught everyone how to do this and that (curse, hit people, act inpolite) its just messed up, the other bad things about every older sibling is that they are like a second parent for their younger sibling and take care of themselves the worse part is that the parents start overstressing them and since no one will ever care about them anymore once they get a brother or sister the attention will all go to them the older sibling always do chores and are forced to do them meanwhile the younger siblings never do anything- i don't get it our parents always talk to us about things in their lives they need to fix like im not your therapist they only come to you once they need help nothing else this is fucked up i hate it- the part i most hated about this is that everyone wishes to be the oldest in their family because they will be the favorite etc.. but instead its the complete opposite the you gest will always be the favorite for some damn reason im sick of it the oldes goes through so much more trauma then the other siblings i just dont get it why cant siblings be loved equally?

Y’know, being the youngest, i really want to know what my sister thought and felt when we were at a young age and growing up, although she treated me like shit most the time, she cared for me and i loved those times where she did actually care for me… after i found out she wasn’t leaving for college i bawled my eyes out right in front of her, i was so happy that she wasn’t gonna leave me, we see each other almost regularly now… although she’s probably the reason for my childhood trauma, i still love her.. it’s confusing but i think people with siblings will get it.. ❤

I'm the eldest sibling and I need advice. My sister isn't like how she portrayed hers at all. Mine has anger issues and gives me attitude 24/7. I clean, I cook, I take care of, even of my parents. Im burnt out and my patience is thin when im burnt out. She thinks she's older than me when she's 10! I've been trying to teach her to say please, thank you, excuse me, etc since she was little but she just refuses and gives me the stink eye. I tell her she can always come to me for anything I'll always be there for her and love her always but she's just so mean. She's always been mean, since she was born even my mom agrees. I feel like shit rn I was tryna straighten my freaking hair and she was doing that attitude shit again and I told her to watch her mouth and she opened it for soap she didn't think I'd do it. I put 2 squirts of soap at the tip of her mouth so she wouldn't get hurt or anything then I accidentally smacked her with the bottle (not hard at all) cuz she jerked her head in that direction and she started crying. I immediately got her water and told her to spit it out and out of spite she SWALLOWED IT. I don't know if it's me or her but I need to learn something idk. Any moms, older siblings, or even younger siblings with advice? Thanks for reading this far

Here is my bad side of being the oldest (this is siblings and close cousins cause I only have 1 sibling and I’m the oldest out of cousins too): blamed for everything, nothing is mine, would be high expectations but I actually meet them so yeah, the role model, no role model for myself to look up to (I see my aunt more than mom and aunt is not the best influence), have to break the news to siblings/cousins abt the world most of the time, setting too high expectations for them, them constantly being compared to me, setting high expectations for teachers (specifically for my cousin who’s a grade/year younger than me) that they can’t live up to, never getting what u want, parents only listening to younger family, pressure to follow in parent’s footsteps (my parents own a business and are rlly fancy etc) Good personal experiences as the oldest (still cousins and siblings): get to experience things first, not often compared to them, spoiled (that’s prob a just a thing with our family but I’m the spoiled one in the family), never having hand-me-downs, gets all the attention, gets to go to events with parents, getting privileges before them (cursing, moving out, drinking, etc)

Story time: So I’m 11, and my older sister Megan is 19. She’s my everything, and I’m hers. We tell each other everything and have that strong sister bond. One day I was just watching KZbin in my room and I heard her crying a little bit. I went into her room and I asked if she was okay, and she just pulled me into a hug. It turns out, she found this video and she started telling me how stressful it is being the oldest despite how much she loves me and just started venting her heart out to me, and I let her because I could tell she was hurting. The things she said she can’t relate to are babysitting, high expectations (she’s a really good student), and the blaming. She said she loves being my role model.

I have been an oldest child of 6 for 12 years, this LITERALLY DESCRIBES MY LIFE

As the oldest child, I find this really relatable, parents just think "Oh yeah! You should have good grades and take care of your younger siblings" but sometimes we are just to over worked and tired but you still have that younger sister to take care of, especially if you have a toxic family, the younger siblings are gonna need you..

I rarely see oldest child POVs. It is always middle children. Middle children have it bad, but it always makes my day to see the oldest child ones.

I am the middle child who is also the oldest. So not only am I a forgotten middle child but I have the responsibility (chores) of an older child and babysitting and trying to please my parents who don’t seem to care unless my grade slips to a B or anything for that matter it is just unfair in my house. However I don’t let that stop me from working hard to make my parents happy and being a role model for my younger siblings and keeping my grades up and studying to get my dream job. It is hard in my house there has been so many problems my family has gone through in a span of three years 2013-2016 my mom got diagnosed with MS and my grandmother passed away in august of 2014 to cancer and in 2015 I lost my dad to cancer and type 2 diabetes and my mom in 2016 had an MS relapse and couldn’t move for a few months at the time from 2013 to 2016 I was 4 years old to 7 years old so I didn’t know how to process it all at my age when I became a teenager it all came rushing back and I had been diagnosed with mild depression crippling anxiety and crippling social anxiety. I didn’t let it stop me I kept going yes I fought thing and they did get really bad I got help from a therapist and he helped me with so much in just a short time I also learned so much from him. Since then I haven’t had anything bad really happen to me there are still time I struggle with it but I fight because I refuse to let it control my life like it did and my mother has gotten so much better. I do still worry for her and do everything I can to help her and keep her from overworking herself. But I can tell you don’t let anyone push you around try to control you don’t put all the pressure on yourself and don’t not help out but don’t keep it all bottled up inside either you can do this you can fight to. ❤❤

Honestly as the youngest i hv told my older sister so many times i wanna be like her. You really can't blame us either...the older ones seem so perfect...and the parent also just wants u to be like them u cant help but wish u were as good as them.

oh my god you just described what its like. I always have to cancel plans with friends to babysit my sister even though she has a club she can go to but refuses to. My grades are currently 4 A’s and 3 B’s, which is good. and my mom yelled at me over having a few b’s its so weird- then when my sister has a few 3’s and an 4 (3’s are equal to b’s and 4’s are equal to A’s) its not an issue. like-

Yep this is all true along with getting gaslit for having “attitude” when you’ve been helping all day and you just can’t anymore and you end up not having a cheerful tone and it’s considered “snippy” and being told you’re out of control for having strong emotions about everything and not even being able to stand up to your parents.

Me as an Oldest child got into trouble for stupid things, high achiever, introvert, craziest, playful, blamed for not having the highest grades and also family expects to be the best of the best, suffered the most when protecting my brother from older guys bullying him, meanwhile my younger (since it’s only me and my brother) doesn’t get blamed, has more time to go out, extrovert, has more friends, parents don’t mind if he has bad grades, less responsibility, makes a lot mess around the house, homebody

Can u make one for the youngest List maybe Perents being strick bc they want to "protect you" sence your their last one Getting yelled at constantly and perents letting anger out on you Getting blamed for EVERYRHING Not being able to have as much fun as the older ones with perents Not being able to understand anything as you wernt born yet in the times theyr talking abt/being left out Perents having higher expectations for you to be as sucsesfull as older siblings Perents presurring you to not be a "dissaponintment" like your older siblings Getting spoild but not being able to se perents as much as your older siblings did Getting teamed up on or being hates by older siblings Getting bossed around all the time I would rlly apriciate it if you could to this so more people relise that bwing the youngest isint the best one. ❤❤ Tysm if you acctually do it!!

Its the exact opposite for us in our family lol, my sister is the oldest, constantly breaks things, gets in trouble, makes mistakes (really bad ones), and always blames it on me. Constantly lies. To the point that none of us ever believe her on anything.
