as a son of a career truck driver, my father instilled in me very early on to always be courteous of the truck drivers when they give way to general motorists, not tail gate and to be patient, when i became a truck driver i used to find myself in many arguments with impatient and ignorant assholes who know nothing about trucks, its quite shocking really . i also found it worse when i lived in perth driving trucks over there. bugger all courtesy and patience. people are willing to risk their lives just to get up the road quicker and shave off a couple of seconds of their journey. its bloody stupid, thats me being kind, i could say much worse on here but i wont. ive also seen your truck out and about around the seaview area and wellington. its a beautiful truck and i love seeing it. glad you post videos and ill be subscribing to see more :)

The old MOT traffic officer training school used to use the Rimutaka road as a final test for the riding course. They would close the road for a few hours on a Sunday morning and do the testing. The riders had to chase/keep up with an instructor over the range on the old XJ750's and acheive an *average* speed over the couse of 170 kph without any major observed safety problems. It functioned as their pursuit qualification needed for graduation. Those guys could *really* handle a bike well.

It used to be a lot more narrower! My father once told me, when he was growing up in the 60s, he went to a party in wellington. When coming back from the party to the wairarapa, his mate asked if he wanted a lift on his motorbike back home, it was a rainy dark night, my father said its all good ill wait for a train. The next morning he found out his best mate and another friend had an accident, his best mate was killed and the other was paralysed from the waist down. What im getting at is people, don’t take silly risks, don’t overtake if there is a risk of collision like the idiots in this video. Just patiently wait, you will get to your destination safe and only minutes later. Think about this people.

Really enjoyed the insite you laid down from a truckie's perspective. I've always appreciated the good truckies and always shown appreciation with a wave if on the bike or a toot in the car so thanks for making space. Genuine question time though. As a car nerd I typically have pretty fast cars, and I stick by "spend as little time on the wrong side of the road as possible" when passing for, I feel, obvious reasons. As such if I'm passing a truck, in most circumstances I'm foot to floor to get past as quickly as possible, (if safe to do so) and sometimes that might mean coming past the tractor fairly quickly, mostly to, as mentioned, spend as little time on the wrong side of the road as possible, but also to allow those behind me the best chance of safely passing. As a trucker do you ever get concerned by drivers (lets assume in a well sorted car driving in a manor suitable to the situation) going too fast while passing? (also assuming the driver slows to the limit etc after passing and isn't driving like a dick head). Would love to know your opinion. Cheers for the video.
@TricktruckerАй бұрын
@@iwanttobeamole I agree with what you say about passing quickly and safely. That’s why I strongly disagree with cops sitting at the end of passing lanes to snap slightly speeding motorists. Because of this we now see 1 car taking an entire passing lane to pass 1 or 2 trucks because they are scared of creeping over the limit and being pinged. I’ve seen this cause far more dangerous disruption to open road traffic than anyone doing 105-110km/h

Many of us have said this. But they won't fix pot holes with the road tax, they would rather put wire barrier up the middle. So getting a bridge for the cook straight or a tunnel for the remutaka hill is not going to happen. The money is in the pockets of the wrong people.

There are moves afoot, via Simon Bridges, Andrew Garden, Andrew Hopkirk and Hugh Milliken to put a new highway through the Rimutakas. Unfortunately, no tunnel, but a super highway through the most pristine, ancient valley.. land at Mt Messenger owned by Tony and Debbie Pascoe. These good people have been subject to the most intense pressure to sell their land, even being confronted in their own home and yelled at. An intolerable situation. Why should ancient, pristine land be given over to a boy racer highway? Please spread awareness, this cannot happen.

Kia ora driver….a short story for you, sayin thank you for the view and the reminder of what I used to do. Also and mostly for all the motorists who aren’t truckers to.! ‘Attitude, one truckers guide to stayin Alive’ If everyone who drives could lie a month in bed, with broken bones stitched wounds and fractures to the head, and endure the agonies that people often do, perhaps then you will listen to what I’m sharing with you. To stand beside the bed of family n friend, and hear a doctor say ‘it’s fatal I’m sorry, this is the end’. To see them lying there not knowing what took place, of what it is I say please make sure you try and embrace. To meet the family and friends of those left behind, then look at the place where sunlight used to shine, and look at the place where they used to sit, to you as a driver now use ya head n think a bit.! The vehicle you drive look at it and check it prior to each trip, to be safe and to be sure make sure it is that do it. And then as you get in behind the wheel, take heed and remember then please this little safe road spiel. For you as the driver there’s one thing to do, to retain and to remember what you have to do. For there’s nothing else ever to remember to do, except to have ready your attitude. Now your attitude comprises of three attributes, the three to remember or you’ll crash a real beaut. These three to have always to be in your mind, not one but the three of them ten tenths of the time. Ignorance Inattention Impatience they are, best don’t forget them or you won’t drive very far. Ignorance Inattention Impatience they be, three attributes of ATTITUDE is all driving must be. Kia ora…. for any’s pleasure. 👌😎🏍🚛🌏💜
