The First generation Ford escape was built on the same platform as the Mazda tribune SUV. The quality of these SUVs in the early 2000s Was always somewhat questionable. But with Fords 3 Liter duratec V6 and The Mazda bits here and their, It begs the questionWhy is it such a bad thing that they Were built on the same platform.
The Ford Escape!
Thanks for watching!!!!

On actual winter tires this SUV is a snowmobile! Had be on work in a snow storm and it handled without ANY problem! Meanwhile seen cars pulled on a side and some SUV’s too! I changed all 7 fluids when I bought this Ford Escape: 1. Engine oil 2. Transmission fluid 3. Transfer case fluid 4. Differential fluid 5. Power steering fluid 6. Brake fluid 7. Radiator fluid. Now it runs like a new! Oil is cheap, do not overdue to change. This is a nice, capable and not oversized SUV, like it much!

Well that’s a lot of miles, still a little more than the one I had on test that day, that truly is amazing. I imagine if you keep the car long enough you should have no problem getting it to 200,000 or maybe even 250,000! That truly is amazing. This car is a testament to the way things used to be made. Good ol reliability. Thank you for sharing, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my videos!!!

@@autobrovado9497 yes! I agree pretty reliable SUV's! my only concern is that even with regular proper maintenance, I've read that at some point, the Timing chain will eventually wear out or the 4speed AT will start slipping... and having those repaired will cost a fortune lol I plan on keeping mine and have it reach 300k kms or hopefully 200k Miles.

I just bought one a few months ago 2005 with 176 on it now at 179 Plus, somebody took horrible care of it and I had to replace a bunch of stuff in it all the coils, and the engine computer and a couple of sensors, door sensors are going bad, window hydraulics in the back have to be replaced but just for the glass main door still works great. a few dents some paint damage, but she still looks great after 15 years of hard use. runs super great still after the massive tune-up I had to give her, the things like a tank for real, plenty of power- I drove a V6 Jeep Cherokee that was a little older than her like late 90s and it was gutless compared to this thing. and it has optional off or on overdrive which he didn't discuss in the video I was waiting for him to say something about it, I have to turn mine off when I drive her because the transmission acts weird when it's on. but other than that mine came with every option available for this model and sold for $27,000 in 2005 I have the original sales receipt, I paid $1,500 at a used car lot while it was running on only four cylinders and basically dying because the shop owner was driving it to save his own cars mileage, basically destroying the engine but now she runs perfect and starts every time. I love my Ford SUV escape. if you get one of these and it's still running, don't just scrap it, the engines in these apparently will last a really long time with proper maintenance.

Had this same exact escape. Owned it for about 2 1/2 years. It was a ok vehicle for the most part got me from point A to point B. Had over 225,000 when I got rid of it. The heat/Ac didn’t work would bog down motor and idle rough when on. Had electrical problems like flickering gauge cluster and headlights. The dealership couldn’t figure it out. Also the rear strut mount rusted out on mine which is pretty common in these so beware of that!

It's not AWD it's 4WD you just don't get to choose when it engages... It automatically engages when it senses slippage. The car you review is the facelift (> 2004) the pre 2004 ones had a switch for 4wd at the same spot this one has the 4wd logo.

Interesting... I'm planning on purchasing a 2005 V6 AWD Ford Escape in a few days; I think at a lower trim level. I took it for a quick test drive today - it's very smooth-riding, with enough power, and quite strong brakes (ABS brakes?). Good steering and tight cornering with it's medium-length wheelbase... Seems like a very nice ride!

Yes, very surprised by the all wheel drive performance. I threw that one at half throttle threw a roundabout corner, it weights up so nicely and the all wheel drive system balances the perfect amount of under steer and oversteer!!!

@@autobrovado9497 This is an awesome review!... 🚙 I just bought my 2005 Ford Escape XLT (V6/AWD) a few days ago 👍; almost 143,000 miles - runs very smoothly! I agree that this is supposed to be a rugged, off-road compact/midsize SUV. Mine certainly looks very rugged... It has some options/accessories added - a kind of rock chip deflector on the front edge of the hood; snow/rain deflector windowsills above each of the side windows; truck-like running boards (steps) on the sides... I think that this rugged, boxy truck-like design was a big part of the appeal of the original Escapes... I don't like the design of the 2020 model in comparison. It looks like Ford went for 'sporty' more than 'utility' with it - to where it now just looks like every other 'crossover' on the road... It just looks like a big, windswept wagon; too car-like. I don't know if I would even call it a compact SUV... I've watched some videos on it, and in every one there's no mention of it's off-road capability - or it's towing capacity, even. Anyway, I'm glad I got my 2005 Escape; it's rugged enough and durable for what I need in a smaller SUV. 😊 Once again, this is a great review; it steered me towards making my own purchase! 👍

I have a 2005 Mazda Tribute (same car as the Escape). Mine is not four wheel drive though. This car has never given me a problem. There were certain issues that arose due to normal wear and tear. My car is 175,000 miles similar to the car in this video. For example last year one of the plastic blades of the radiator fan snapped off. I put very little repair money in this car. If it was a Chrysler or GM product I would probably being paying for numerous repairs. For me reliability is the most important thing in a car.

I just picked up a 2005 4x4 for snowy winter. Nothing at all wrong with that first series Escape. Except for the crummy front seats. Maybe OK if you are 5 ft. and 140 Lbs., but for my larger size they crunch me up. I will get around to fixing that upholstery wise when I have some time to mess with it. My 2010 came with a noticeably better seat design. They are no Mercedes or BMW, but very serviceable and cheap compared to the $1,000+ each complicated repair costs of euro brands. Had an opportunity to keep a 4th generation eco boost 4 banger Titanium edition, with all the Microsoft and alerting bells and whistles. No way. The first & second generation models are a better vehicle all the way around. The government ECO crap only works on level ground. In the hills the system is constantly spooling up looking for a lower gear and actually gave less MPG than my 2010 V6 on the same roads. As to the alternator: Ya PIA. The problems happen too often because people take the two piece cooling shroud off when replacing them. Ford NEVER adds anything that costs more than 5 cents unless their engineers say it is needed. It almost looks like I could add a fresh air flexi hose to it and suck in front air dam air to finally cure the too much heat design flaw.

I have put 50K miles on in 5 years myself..I get an avg of 23mpg combined city/hwy. My rear cargo cover looks new still as do my seats and side panels unlike this camo covered mess..I have the classier grey interior which hides imperfections better than the light tan that belongs in Mercedes Benz that won't have mud tracked in them!

basically it's like first and second gear in a manual transmission, except in an automatic they are load levels in an all-wheel drive vehicle you will get massive all-wheel drive power in one and somewhat less in two, not recommended to drive in either of these past 35 mph or you will overheat the engine and blow stuff up.
