I was told by Honda main dealer tech to NEVER start the car with foot on the clutch. Maybe someone with more knowledge could help explain as to why..

I wouldn't understand why that would be said. It doesn't make any sense to me as it doesn't cause any issues im aware of. I would ask them to clarify further to explain why they suggest that.

Well the S2000 doesn't turn on unless you have the clutch in so I don't know what they would explain about that one haha.

@@mrgcc I live in the UK and you don't need to press the clutch to start the car here. I will try and find the information and post it back here

Thrust washer failure, apparently clutch to start puts unnecessary force on the thrust washer. A Honda specialist near me currently have 4 s2000s in all for the same problem. @red_r_performance on instagram.

i’m a little confused, the jdm spec s2k has a screen in the middle and in all jdm cars the clutch does not need to be in to start the car, are you sure this is jdm spec? other than that great video bro🤙🏽

So you literally had me second guess everything but checked the logbook, first registered in 2001 but its a T reg because its a car from 1999. If it was a 2001 model year car it should be a Y reg. Maybe because its such an early model car its like that. I do know the screen in the middle was an optional extra. The clutch thing I guess maybe wasn't the case on early models if that is a true fact? But thanks for enjoying the video. Like I said you had me second guess what I was told haha. You made me learn more about my own car then!

@@mrgcc Being a Japanese living in Japan and owning a S2000 myself, I can confirm that the middle lcd screen was for the optional navigation system. And as for the clutch, at least when it shipped from the factory you needed to step down on the clutch to start the engine of the S2000. It says so in the JDM owners manual on page 77. Nice video by the way.

Yeah especially when they get mad at your for passing them 😂 Nothing that come Vtec couldn't fix though. Got to enjoy the road after that
