Good to see the advice I gave you paying off, learning to ride switch is no different than it is learning to ride in your natural stance, awkward at first but all it takes is time spent doing it getting mileage under your feet.
@xp75752 ай бұрын
And here is some follow up on that for people who are struggling with it: We all have one edge that feels more comfortable and secure than the other and it's the same thing with which foot you lead with, the more time you spend riding at a speed you are comfortable with on your non-dominant edge (or with your non-dominant lead foot) the more you will develop comfort and confidence, riding at a comfortable speed is KEY to developing positive muscle memory. Second, making sure you have a set up that works for you is even more important when it comes to learning switch because the smallest things can mess you up in a way that they don't when it comes to riding in your more natural stance. This means you should play with the spacing and angle of your bindings to find what is ideal for your body, and it means taking the time before you ride to address the little things like making sure you don't have pressure points in your feet from bunched up socks in yer boots or having your laces unevenly tight. I know that sounds silly to some but I taught for nearly a decade and making sure that beginners have the basics covered makes a HUGE difference. Third, making it a point to spend a full day riding switch (rather than just a few runs or partial runs switch) is important as it is the repetition that develops the muscle memory. Going along with that it helps to skate around one footed and to ride the lifts switch too in spite of how awkward it is at first.

Motor neuron training always keeps it interesting. Whenever I am asked why I like snowboarding so much, it's always the same answer. It's because it's so challenging. The difficulty is what makes it so fun! I miss the days when I got off the lift, looked down the mountain, and feared for my life. That was a thrill! . . . just get down the mountain without dying. Now it's about quality of execution, riding switch, and landing new tricks (and trying to keep up with my friends who grew up doing it. . . so not fair 😊).

Loving the vids! Great progression. If you watch this back you’ll notice all your makes are when you’ve kept your speed up. Both in the goofy and regular videos when you’re going too slow you’re missing (this is your key to that s-rail by the way). Keep that speed up!

Ryan the way you describe your back foot is similar to something i deal woth. I just learned that my back leg is actually an inch longer “functionally” than my front leg because of rotated hips or whatever. A $100 xray at a chiropractor could show you if you have the issue or you could do a bunch of differet exercises to see if one is longer than the other like hand from a pullio bar or lay on your stomach and have someone look

Gotta stay stacked!! I'll get it!
@gregorychristensen51652 ай бұрын
Try opening your hips so they’re pointed forward with your shoulders parallel to your board, it’s weird doing switch because you have to consciously think about it, but it should help trick your brain into thinking you ride goofy. Maybe even try setting your left foot binding angle to 0 for a day (or more) and see if that helps get that stance locked in. Nice to see the progression! Keep shredding! ❤

Question: Why are most people right handed, meaning they should be right foot dominant snowboarding ( my snowboarding instructor said ) but most of yall run left foot forward?
@xp75752 ай бұрын
Your instructor gave you bad analysis, right handed people usually prefer a left foot forward stance when batting in baseball or taking a shot in hockey or throwing a football or swinging a tennis racket because the dominant foot being the back foot is more natural to plant on.
@Jjsssssss2 ай бұрын
What says the dominant foot should be forward? Many (most?) activities have the dominant foot in the back. Go into a "fighting/boxing stance" and you're probably putting your dominant foot and hand in the back.

@@Yaymess just make sure to practice switch a bit every ride as you progress. I never did this as a beginer and regret it cause I had to learn like ryan did here :(... If you practice just a run or two every time it will come alot faster.
