I had a teacher like this. My dad went into the school SCREAMING when I told him about it. (Bc like this, it was also my time and I bled thru everything and had to leave school) - so instead of missing 3 minutes of class, I missed an entire day - Lets just say we all had unlimited bathroom breaks from then on out 🤷‍♀️😹🥰

That was my dad's rule, especially since I got chronic UTIs growing up. My teacher had a meeting with all the girls alone. He said his wife told him when he started teaching that girls dont ask to use the bathroom randomly for no reason. So he handed out distrest cool coloured bags. Said "put your products in there. Set the bag on thw desk raise your hand and when i call on you just point to your bag. No words needed". We loved it. If he noticed you had to use your bag he usually had treats that week for you. For the boys i heard he had a sign for "unexplainable boner" that meant they could wait to stand in front and read their essays till it went down. He was the oldest teacher there but knew best how to make highschool less awkward. Bonus fact: behind his back everyone called him grandfather. When he retired i heard he revealed to his classes he knew the whole time and wore a worlds best grandpa tshirt under his suit jacket

A girl passed out from dehydration at my school one year cause she wasn't drinking water in order to save her bathroom passes for rewards. The school quickly made new policies to avoid this happening again cause in certain states (I think don't quote me on this) it's illegal to deny someone a restroom break during school (and maybe work?) hours. I get asking someone to wait a bit, but only giving students 1 pass for a whole semester is ridiculous and I'll never understand teachers who deny students restroom requests even when it's an emergency.

I once had a teacher that had a bathroom rule. You had 2 minutes to use the bathroom, and you get one bathroom use a week. We even had to sign a paper to agree to these rules. So my parents signed it and I did too. HOWEVER my parents said if I ever needed to use the bathroom really badly and I used the pass already. Pee in the chair. The worst part was I would get up for school at 6 am, get to school 7:40 am, have one class, and then have this teacher. So you already know that we would use the pass on the first day this rule was added. Also this was the only teacher who did this. Anyway, this school had a high school. The high school principal had some kids. One of them WERE IN THIS CLASS WITH ME. So like two days after this rule was added. It left after that principal hearing this and knowing this was a lawsuit waiting to happen.

We got them too, most of the teachers were nice and only took them from the people who they know might not just go to use the bathroom (like talking to a friend or taking really long so they can miss class), but some would take them from everyone and passing period is only 3 minutes, which is not enough time to go to your locker, get your stuff for your next class, use the bathroom, and make it on time to class. And there are some classes that every grade takes so you have to go like across the school which already takes up a minute or two, so it is even hard to get to class on time. (the whole reason they have passes is to try to make people go during passing periods and not interrupt class) It makes no sense why we have to rush everything so much, and if you are late to class so many times you get detention.

Had a teacher who told us about this time he had beef with another teacher because she had stopped students from going to the bathroom during class. The first incident was a student crying in the bathroom - a footballer who'd pissed himself and was planning to skip the rest of his classes that day and go home after everyone left. The other was a girl who came up and knocked at his door (not even one of his students, previous or current) who'd bled through her pants (which is even more baffling seeing as the teacher was also a woman??) He took the both incidents to the principal. The first one got her warned; the second almost essentially got her fired. Her permit to work at the school for the next year was revoked, and then be able to renew the year after that.

At our school we weren’t allowed to go at all unless it was break. Break was 2 minutes long and most people’s classes are far apart, not to mention the hallway traffic and the lines to the bathroom. I had one teacher that actually let us go occasionally but the rule was it couldn’t be while we were doing work, we had to finish all our work wait for the teacher to not be talking in a singular class just to go to the bathroom. I wasn’t affected by this as much because I have bad anxiety for public restrooms to the point where I won’t go, but I know that there were plenty of people and mostly women that were affected. People shouldn’t have to be denied the bathroom, of course there will be kids on their phones, vaping, or just hanging out and skipping. But that doesn’t mean that you can take everyones right to go. It’s human to pee, I don’t understand why schools act like it isn’t. Bladders aren’t always controllable much less periods. There were multiple girls in my class that were sent to the office because they needed to go to the bathroom, most were sent home too. There were multiple occurrences of people having accidents, no one was made fun of for it either. Everyone understood so we didn’t shame them instead we comforted them. It’s funny how far schools are willing to go because a student needs to leave for less than 4 minutes. They’d rather send students home than have them leave for a few minutes. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

Not only embarrass students and cause them to possibly piss or bleed or whatever on themselves, it could also cause bladder problems and other health issues if you hold it for too long. Plus, a lot of the population with bladder problems are children because they hold in their pee (usually because they’re too busy playing or on their phone to get up and go, but this could be included as well). And another thing is it could cause children to stop drinking during the day which is another problem. You stop drinking, you get dizzy, you struggle to focus, you faint.

I've quite literally gotten teachers to change that when I was going to school, I told them if you don't let me go I'm going to pop a squat on your desk and you'll be the one to clean it. I've even wore tights so I can give off the illusion I'm taking my pants off without getting in trouble, since I'm still clothed and most teachers budge when you start fiddling with your belt. I was quite ready to turn into a velociraptor and hop on desks, lmfao! I hate stupid rules!

FINALLY a video of someone who just up and walks out like this is what I'm always saying. and seeing these videos about people who's teachers won't let them and stuff or for whatever reason soemthing else is happening, like just walk out at this point, they can't physically force you to stay in there and if it's for a legit reason, if anything they should be the ones getting in trouble, not you. if they don't let you go to the bathroom or go somewhere when you need to if it's an emergency, just go just leave, walk out. plus it feels better than arguing with them lol they can get mad all they want but they're the ones in the wrong. but thank you for finally being someone who will just walk out. and this one bathroom pass a semester is sooo stupid like dude things happen what world r u living in like "the sillibus only allows one???? girl ur the one that made it. seeing the videos drives me crazy and I just wish I could tell them to just walk out, that's what I'd do in these situations. i actually got really bad bladder infections through middle school because we were only allowed bathroom use once per day (it was a small school, so it was all one class and a short lunch break at 1pm). my doctor had to shamefully write a long letter to my school about how they needed to let me go to the bathroom anytime i said i had to because of how bad the infections got. and even then my teacher was sometimes not willing to let me go. best case scenario if this happens is to just go and deal with the bs the principal throws at you later. parents and authorities will likely stand at your side anyway

my school policy was that you could only use the restroom 9 times per semester, or once for every class. every time you went your teacher had to sign your planner, and if you lost your planner, too bad, you couldn't use the restroom. it was ridiculous. luckily some of the teachers thought it was stupid and would let you go whenever, but most of them were super strict about it. it was literally awful. especially for girls like me who have really heavy periods.

A bathroom pass actually saved me from failing English: At the beginning of senior year, like everyone else, I got a bathroom pass and all throughout the year I never used it. Fast forward to finals, I wanted to exempt my English final but I had a 79 in the class and you need a 80 to exempt finals. So there I was standing in front my teacher asking if I could exempt knowing damn well that I can't, when he asked me if I still had my bathroom pass and he could add that to my grade. I've never dug through my folder faster in my life. I got it out, changed my grade froma 79 to an 80, exempted, and graduated. I'm being a little dramatic about how it saved me from failing but I knew that if I took that final I would tank it and probably not pass, I'm happy that it worked out

Literally happened to me one time at work. Used to work in a big anchor store inside a mall and my department was isolated. No one to watch my register but me, therefore each time I had my lunch or bathroom break I needed wait untill someone covered my department. Fast forward to a VERY bad period, I found out that I was leaking through my pads and into my dress pants... Like dripping down my leg. Boss didn't believe it was emergency and said he send someone when he could. So, over the employee radio, I said, well unless you want to sell your merchandise discounted because of my blood, or pay to have your nice WHITE carpet cleaned I would suggest you get someone here... Ah yes. In high school we had a two bathroom pass a semester rule per class. There were only a couple bathrooms at horribly inconvenient locations with just 3-4 stalls each so sometimes you couldn’t make it between classes based on locations/lines. Some teachers didn’t care but others held right to that rule. And you had to use them if you needed to run to your locker or whatever during a class period. You could take a tardy if you wanted to go and had used them though. And we could only have five of those a semester before getting detention. I don’t miss high school 🙄🫣

In my physics class my teacher had a thing where you had 5 bathroom passes for each 6 weeks. HOWEVER, if we needed to go the first 5 or last 5 minutes of class we didn’t have to sign to go to the bathroom. Needless to say pretty sure not one of us used all of them. We just got used to going at the beginning of class before the bell rang. She ended up just not caring about it since she came from a bad school and my school is very calm.

I had a male PE teacher that would shame me everytime I had to go to the bathroom during class, and he would always say stuff like- "You can go but next go during passing time" and then announce to the entire class that we should go to the bathroom during passing time, not during class. (Context: We only got five minutes during passing time, and the gym was on the complete other side of the school from where the lockers were) Eventually, I got sick of being shamed everytime I had to go to the bathroom so I started asking the other PE teacher instead (More context: The gym was split into two, and the other PE teacher was a Female) Another time something like that happened was with a substitute teacher during a test. She made this rule that we could not leave the classroom unless we were throwing up, bleeding, or dying. So when I told her I needed to go the bathroom she repeated the rule. She was already a really mean sub and I was honestly getting sick of her, so in front of the entire class I said- "I am bleeding, can I leave now?" (No I did not care about what the boys in class thought in that very moment, I was just thinking about how if she wasn't going to let me leave I was going to stain my pants and the seat) and she then had the audacity to ask me where, so I said- "Where do you think girls bleed for a week every month?" (And I said it to her like she was a child) She remained silent and let me leave 😁 I felt very accomplished on that day

My freshman year of highschool I was forced to hold it, mainly due to the fact I either didn't like to ask, or that the teacher didn't allow us but one bathroom break to use every two months. Due to holding it for so long for half that school year, it resulted in me getting a UTI, and I had to go to the hospital due to it being so bad. I'd recommend to anyone that has to deal with the bathroom passes thing, just get up and go. They cannot force you to sit there and hold it due to it being rough on your body, and it's even worse if you're on your period. Stay safe and take care.
