This was me today. Found a really nice used flute at an estate sale and couldn’t help myself. I have no idea how to play it. 😂 I’m a saxophone, piano, and guitar player, so learning flute will be a new experience for me 😆

This is such an exciting question as I had a dream I was playing a saxophone but it turned into a trumpet so I’ve been thinking for the past couple of days which instrument to buy. That’s why I’m here as I’m wondering if I should start with the flute, should I get a clarinet, should I just a trumpet first etc. I used to play the recorder as a child and even performed once with a group for a live performance. So I’m hoping this might help me with one of these instruments. 😀😊🎺🪈🎷

The thing you said sounds nice im pretty sure is called allicvonts(i think thats how its spelled in my language is alikvonte)and is baisically blowing hard with the finger positions of the lowest octave on flute into the upper ones,its usually used to check and practice intonation for the upper octaves:]

You got to start on brass!!!! Its super easy 'cause all "main" brass instruments fingerings are the same (except French Horn, its the only hard one since I actually have to learn it lol). I can play every "main" brass instrument; Trumpet: Soprano French Horn: Alto Trombone: Tenor Euphonium: Baritone Tuba: Bass It's really fun! Im starting Saxophone 🎷 on Monday too!

Also, here's a cheat sheet 'cause why not; I recommend learning Euphonium 1st, also learn it in Bass Clef it'll make things a lot easier. Or at least learn Trombone 1st or something is BC. Anyways... Tbn. Position/Euphonium Fingering 1/Open 2/2 3/1 4/1+2 or 3 5/2+3 6/1+3 or 4* 7/1+2+3 or 2+4* For Trumpet fingers to be the same; Read it transposed, as trumpet is in Bb. You can use any note but for me I use F = G So you'd read the lower G line on Trumpet (TC) as the higher F line on Euphonium or Tbn. (BC). It'll also work for Euph. BC/TC since TC is in Bb down an octave.
