I have lived in my flat for 22 yrs paying the mortgage. Since that 'mini budget' the mortgage has increased threefold. Some arrears built up and now Lloyds Bank, yesterday, have sent letters saying 'we are applying to the court for an Eviction Date'. Have worked since I was 15, now 57, and Lloyds are actively trying to make me homeless because of the interest rate rises, despite me paying the monthly mortgage in full, 80% of my salary. I just cannot believe that this has been allowed to happen in this current climate. Their advice was to contact Shelter or the local council. And thanks to Lloyds I cannot even sell it as now worth less than the mortgage.

There will be hot days, and you will need to find a way to adapt. You just need to know the routine (find a spot late at night to sleep and leave early in the morning). Get a cheap gym membership. Go stealth, get a hatchback with tinted windows, shades to block incoming light.

Before Tony Blair, House prices and rents were affordable. That all changed under New Labour because the government/ Bank of England deliberately supressed interest rates forcing up asset prices including housing.
