Poverty in Parika (Part 1) - Single mother endures hardships

In this video, we’re starting a mini-series to highlight the poverty on the Parika Sea Dam, East Bank Essequibo. We start first with a single mother who shares her heart-rending story of hardships she faced. She lived alone at the age of seven with her younger brother and had to start working and cooking at that age. Because she asked people for help she ended up in a relationship with a man and got pregnant and gave birth to her first child at the age of 16. She is still struggling to make ends meet to care for her family…

Years ago in Gyuana People had their Struggles. And never complained, they worked had for their Kids learn them a Trade or help them get a good education. Look like the people these days hoping the government give everything to them. When she talking about what they are going through. Some of us eat Butter and Rice with Sugar Water. For Heaven sake . Since Guyana get Oil, every body Now is a ME ME

Thanks for your comment, Elaine. You’re right, she even said her grandmother who they grow up with, told them not the let the neighbours know when they didn’t eat anything. She also trained her children to be contented and they would just eat school biscuits when she didn’t have food

@@kwamielawrence2953 i see this Government is Trying. But some people want chaos it will take time to build back Guyana to where it was and Better! Guyana had busses. Drainages cleaners garbage collecters Trains. Etc and burnham ban them. I wenr on the last Train ride, many people did it was free . iwe did miss those Trains to . East and West coast . crossing the river on the big Ferry Boat, , that was Stop When they build That bridge. . so to be Honest i dont Blame the Government. It will take time. If all the Parties and people want that to happen. I am praying it happen.
