Thanks! I was starting to look into buying replacement sliders, and then googled youtube, and voila - I fixed two favorite jackets with a double slider zipper I happened to have in my sewing cabinet for like decades. The only thing I had to modify from your instructions is to put a teensy slit just below the top stop (I just couldn't get the slider over those stops) to get the slider on, and this slit doesn't effect anything. Thanks again!

THANKS SO MUCH!! The slide on my Cortech motorcycle jacket broke today, thought it was destined for the garbage can. I never knew this could be done, I always thought you had to replace the whole zipper and this being leather, I knew it would not be easy, but 5 minutes after watching your excellent video the jacket is back in business. I removed a slide off of a pocket like you suggested.

Thank you. The slider broke on my sons ski jacket. I was going to buy the as seen on TV "Fix a Zipper" until I noticed all the poor reviews. This video was Very helpful. Thank You. Also, for all you critics out there you should have the ability to use the slide bar to fast forward or not watch videos at all.

Thank you. The zipper on my grandson's favorite jacket stuck this morning and his solution was to hit it with a hammer which broke the post of the slide. It would be cheaper to replace the jacket than find the right size zipper and pay a seamstress to put the new zipper on. Hobby Lobby sells zipper slides and stops (2 in a box) for $1.99. I will be watching your video again once I get the new slide this morning. Thank you!
Great video! Was about to spend money to have the whole thing replace. After watching your video, I found an old jacket and did exactly what you did. You saved me time and money. Thank you!!

I don't understand why ppl are complaining about the 7mins video! Awesome job on the video! You saved myself and so many money that you didn't have to save us from. I'll watch videos that don't give enough video so thank-you so much!! In the past I've thrown away sweatshirts, jackets, and even this yr boots. No more spending way too much money or throwing away perfectly great clothing or paying someone to do something simple that I can take a few mins to do myself after buying a zipper. Thanks so much! I'm so grateful for this video!! :)

Great video! I can now repair my N-3B Parka zipper a $39.00 cost for the full zipper and cost of having the original removed and the new sewn in. It's a Korean-Era N3-B and your method of repair, just helped me keep the vintage of my N3-B, intact. Very much appreciated! All the best.

Broken zipper pull on my favorite robe - 32" zipper. I was not looking forward to ripping out old zipper and putting in a new one. While searching at a store for some thread, I saw zipper pulls. Light bulb! I had already bought the 32" zipper months ago but kept putting it off. Then I did a youtube search. Found your video. You are a genius! I removed pull from new zipper and used your method to replace the pull on robe zipper. Brilliant! Took me all of two minutes compared to all the seam ripping and sewing in new zipper as originally planned. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! Your video may be ten years old, but the best and easiest I found. That zipper has been broken for years. I hate sewing so I kept putting it off. Even shopped for a new robe. Nothing like this one. Thank You Again! Wrong time of year for this heavy robe, so winter get here fast. A hundred hugs to you! :-)

Always like vids that explain things. A lot of people benefit at times. Thanks for posting.. Didn't read all the comments to know if anyone has chimed in with other info... another option for replacement is to go to a fabric store, And by a new slider...The size is stamped on the zipper slider most of the time.. or take the parts and match it up.. you would be surprised at all the parts to repair a zipper out there..

Hi, I just fixed my winter jacket with guidance from this video. The front zip slider was totally broken in half. I used one of the pocket sliders by snipping off one of it's end pegs and mildly forcing it off the zip track (i could have snipped the other end peg off if necessary) Then I managed to actually pull off the top left peg on the front zip and slip on this slider which then worked like the original (with same style tag too) I made the slit in the removed peg much wider (with a small flat end screwdriver) and with pliers, gently coaxed it back onto the zip rail and then squeezed it shut (plastic btw) Voila ! Like new and saved me buying another costly jacket. Thank you for giving me the insight and confidence.

I was told once by someone who seemed to know what she was talking about it the metal slider which wears out and not the plastic zipper itself. The slider wears out because it gets dirty and the dirt grinds down the metal with time. The prevention is to wash the garment or handbag or whatever as a preventive meaure. This makes sense to me. However, once the slider fails, it has to be replaced, but not the whole zipper. Knowing this fact can save you an expensive fix.

I had to replace the slider on my work safety vest fairly urgently as it had being damaged in a tumble dryer. I detached the slider from a cheap rain coat by copying PovertyLabs scissors technique; however I could only get the slider on by cutting off the top stop-end. Still, I am grateful as I could have lost my job due to the zipper malfunction. Thanks PovertyLabs!
