I'm a older sk8r and like wider decks. I have this deck. Almost the same set up. I have Bones STF 58mm. I have black rib bones. I have them a little bit more in. It kinda looks like the dragon is holding on to them lol. It's my street\ park board. It's a fun ride. I also have a reissue of a Tony Hawk deck from 82. I have Bones Rough Riders 59mm. That's my cruiser\ pool board. Some of the best wheels I have ever rode. A sweet ride.😁

That's cool. For me I find the wheels and bearings to be the most important in terms of how good or bad the ride feels

Independent or tracker trucks 159 or 169 fit the cab deck and work really well. Reverse kingpin trucks are mostly used on longboard and can make the set up very twitchy.

Correct - that’s exactly what they did^^ but it was also fun as hell 😅

I love this deck and I won’t ride anything else anymore, it’s just perfect , concave at the front is just a great little pocket for your front foot. Steve Caballero uses Indy 149’s so that’s what I went with too , I do have another setup with 159’s on but like with yours the back truck makes the wheels stick out a bit so it’s a bit less with the 149’s and feels more like a how trucks do in a pop deck than a wider board. To me this deck has all the benefits of a pop deck with the stability of a wider one .

Pretty sure everyone I’ve seen has said cab rides 159s instead of 169s and that one the 169s are too wide. Never heard anything about the 149s

@@NeilHesterSkateboarding that may be true but if you look at the street Chinese dragon specifically they’re 159s. You can even tell from his cardboard cut out with the blue one that they’re at least 159s. To each their own those interviews were not on his street decks at all

To big of trucks for my taste, 149s would give ya all around ability esp kickflips...But for cruzing only its good . I think this new flight deck series looks awesome , Andy Anderson's board is crazy looking that's my favorite one.

Airik1111 Already sold that setup a bit ago. Currently I’m actually riding the Andy Anderson board on 151 Thunders. I really like it although flip tricks aren’t that easy because if the size (and my mediocre skills).

I've been wondering if risers are necessary? We always used them back in the 80s. I have a Ray Barbee board from around 1990 that I'm in the process of reviving. It's got some ancient Thunder trucks on it. I think it's a 9.5" deck, but, it's only 8.5" at the back truck and around 8.625" at the front truck. I'm thinking of getting Indy 159s, though I think I could probably even get by with 149s, but, the point of reviving it is kind of to test it and compare it to smaller modern posicle boards that I have. I'm curious to find out if I'll need risers. I'm wondering if on yours you could have got by with a 1/8" riser or maybe none at all. Do the wheels hang out with the 169s? Maybe you would have been better off with 159s. But, I think wheels overhanging were more common back in the days of shaped decks. Back in the day, I never really even knew there were different widths in the trucks.
@MarcoEckhardt
@MarcoEckhardt 4 жыл бұрын
Sounds cool that you’re planning on reviving the deck! For that width and especially if it’s a shaped one you can definitely get by with 149s or 159s if you like that they stick out a little bit. For example. When I ride normal popsicle decks in 8,5” I ride 159 s and they don’t stick out much. You almost don’t notice, and I like the feel of a wider truck. And about the risers - depends a lot on wheel size. I ride 55/56mm wheels without risers, anything above gets a 1/8 riser and above 60mm wheels I throw a 1/4 on! Hope this helps - build a sick board!!

I'm thinking of getting this or some cruiser board that'd allow me to do some tricks here and there. What's the point in getting that over a wide 9" popsicle style board though?
@MarcoEckhardt
@MarcoEckhardt 5 жыл бұрын
MPL Chris As described, I set this one up not for cruising, but because I actually wanna try more bowl and transition skateboarding. A wider deck is quite common for that purpose, also with harder and bigger wheels. Normally I’d just set up an 8,5” popsicle, but I really like the shape of this one and wanted to try it! This deck could be good for the purpose you’re describing, but because of the price and the fact that it’s Powell-Peraltas flight construction, it might be overkill. There are many cheaper options that would definitely do the trick and not brake the bank - just ask in your local skate shop for some advice!

Howdy! How do you like the way your new Cab rides compared to your slightly older silver one with RKP trucks?
@MarcoEckhardt
@MarcoEckhardt 5 жыл бұрын
NubiUly well, they are quite different to say the least. The cruiser has reverse kingpin truck, soft wheels and a completely flat concave. The flight deck is super stiff, then the indys with stf wheels - overall a really sharp setup. I mean, there is a reason why skateboards evolved from those old big decks. They are cool for cruising and random stuff, but for skating that involves good pop and doing tricks - I’d ride a popsicle all day!

@MarcoEckhardt
@MarcoEckhardt 5 жыл бұрын
Eric Ramos if they were only for slides - you’re right! for grabs it’s nicer to have them a bit closer to the edge, at least for me. But yeah, while sliding the graphic is gonna suffer a bit for sure. The concave is pretty deep, even if they are more towards the middle it would scratch in the center - look at steve cabs setup. But yeah, a tad more to the middle would not have hurt either 😅
