When we create an app in a solution are the connection references automatically created and used when adding a connection in the app or is it required to first create the connection references and then use them when creating the app? Thx

Another excellent video, nice clear explanations that's easy to understand. Please tell us about the books on your desk. May be you could provide a short book review in a future video about those publications?

Another great video, Damien. I use solutions all the time because of all the numerous advantages you eloquently described but the bits on connection references was much clearer this time although I use it as well. Is it possible to make a video on Connection references and get into more details with that? Thanks for sharing
@rickychen10862 ай бұрын
Thanks for the video. Microsoft did not do a good job explaining the ins and outs of Solutions. One tricky thing that I found with Solution and it resonates with a lot of users is the Connection References. Having your flows converted to solution-aware flows will make the system automatically assign some random names to your connection references. Those names are almost impossible for you to identify the type and use of the connectors.
@DamoBird3652 ай бұрын
Absolutely, I cover that in my video. Demoing the random names and how to create the references with your own naming convention. Thanks for sharing 👍

how to simply use an existing flow in other SharePoint site? For example, i am trying to use a customized request approval flow from MSFT (Got the existing flow and added some actions) in an another SPO site.

There are environment variables that support SharePoint sites and lists. Maybe another video idea? 💡

I like the video, super goodhexplained. I will use the Box for my own Trainings company internal. What i face simetimes, when i import a solution, i get errors for missing connection refferences, why is this? Do you know. Is there a possibility to manage rights on a solution level?

@DamoBird365 thx for this content. Have you/would you consider presenting more around Service accounts/Service principals? I’ve seen content suggesting these as a means of preventing an infinite loop potentially caused by ‘update a row’ action in Power Automate. Because I still lack understanding around all of the above, the flows I implement require creation of a choice column which in turn sets ‘yes/no’ in a text column which in turn determines whether the flow will run. (Said flow resets text field to no ahead of updating desired attribute so as not to re-trigger flow.) I’m hoping that a better understanding of Service account / Service principal will allow for more elegant design.
@DamoBird3652 ай бұрын
Hey Gerald. I’m curious about your use case. A service account is just a licensed user account with an assumed name. The service principal is an app registration in azure. Are you looking to call a specific api? I don’t fully understand your findings.

@DamoBird365, if you care to watch from the 4'50" to 5'50" mark of this video I hope the method and issue will be clear: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hafcm6JmgbSHn5Ysi=xJNhVOvrm1_O6IxQ&t=290 - TWO NOTES: I don't know how to do what John Day is suggesting because I don't know how/whether to create either Service Account/Service Principal AND I would like to be able to do what he does within Dataverse (ie, check modified by for who kicked off the flow versus modified by for who made the last change). I think that's it in a nutshell. PS - I liked the segment in this video you have posted that we are commenting on, when you inserted yourself outside amidst a farm-like setting. Good change of pace from being indoors around screens all day. 🙂Cheers!

Hello!! I've been working with a solution which has been extremely useful for me. However, now I have a question. Right now, as in my business we don't usually use Power Automate, we have only one environment. And I can see the solutions created by all the people in the business. So, all the people would be able to see my solution? Right now I have 14 flows, which I would like to share it to 3 people, not to everybody. The rights of edit would be up to the people that is co-owner or to everybody?
@DamoBird3656 күн бұрын
@@CarlosRosa-nt6sr it’s down to the existing roles on your environment. Is this the default environment?

Where have this video been my whole automation life 😅 My only problem with this video is that I now need to change everything I've ever made😮😂 I have many problems using Dataverse, I can only create tables inside of Teams but I much prefere to work in make.powerautomate or make powerapps. I have a personal account, and a premuim account which belongs to a non-person entity. Could my issues with accessing the Dataverse tables I create stem form mismaneging solutions and environments, and in essence not know what I am doing? Thanks for a great video.
