This project is really amazing , I haven't completed it yet but the incomplete dashboard looks beautiful. Really appreciate the hard work that you have put in this and provided for free. Just one suggestion , I am using an updated Power BI so many of visual formatting options have been relocated to some other option and it took a lot of time to find them and perform the operations, so maybe you can provide something for the new viewers to update them. Thanks anyway, looking forward to more such cool projects in the future .

@PowerBIBro10 ай бұрын
Hey I can help with that! It's a weird quirk...here's what you'll need to do to set the legend bubble to red. 1. Temporarily Change the chart type to a standard bar chart (not line and stacked column) 2. Go to the Bars section 3. Select the series 'Avg Rating" and set the color to red - the legend should have now changed 4. Change the chart back to original (line and stacked column) chart This should set it!

@PowerBIBro10 күн бұрын
Hi thanks for your question! To get the display units for a detailed label on a card, you'll need to select a few items. Under reference labels, for 'Select series' choose the movie titles KPI. Then when you scroll down, for 'Select label', pick the desired label, then you can adjust the display units for that label. Hope this helps! You can get more detail on reference cards through this video as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/joWvoGlqqN6Xmc0

Great video♥️. Just wanted to say can't we just use Round down (Rating s,0) instead of the whole switch statement??
@PowerBIBro10 ай бұрын
Great question! We could round down the rating to just a whole number via a DAX function, but the second part of the switch statement assigns the color to the value. So the benefit is that we only need to manage the color selections one time inside the switch statement. If we instead we were to round the number, then we'd need to also setup the color for each rounded number in the conditional formatting of the visual itself. The cool thing about Power BI is that there is usually many ways to solve the same problem :) Hope this helps and thanks for the comment!

@PowerBIBro10 ай бұрын
Very interesting! I was able to replicate the issue and have a fix for changing the blue tick mark to red. Try following these steps and let me know if it fixes the problem. 1. Switch the chart type to a standard bar chart (the bars will turn blue). 2. Set the bar color to red under the bars menu for 'Avg Rating' 3. Flip the bar chart back to Line/Bar chart and the legend marker should now be red vs blue

Thank you!
@PowerBIBro6 ай бұрын
Hi and thanks for the question!! It's a curious question as when I review the above DAX logic is seems incorrect. I pasted it into the project and confirmed the error. It seems to be missing a comma. Try the below logic, it should work exactly as expected. If the above logic worked for you I'm not sure how that's possible but glad that it did! Genre = LEFT( Listings[Genres], SEARCH( ",", Listings[Genres], , LEN(Listings[Genres]) + 1 ) - 1 )

I gotcha, here's what you need to check out. There are a set of transformational steps happening in the power query which cleanse the data. If you open the netflix project file, go to 'Transform Data', select the "Listings" query, you'll see a step in the 'Applied Steps' section called "Filtered Rows". This step cleanses the data, if you review you should find the details you're curious about. pasted below... = Table.SelectRows(#"Renamed Columns1", each ([Genres] "\N") and ([Type] "short" and [Type] "video" and [Type] "videoGame") and ([Rating] null) and ([Country] "-"))

52:52 I know this video is almost 6 months old maybe the feature was a new addition but still curious cant we use the 'Gradient' option from 'Format Style' for creating gradient instead of going through all this hurdles of creating a table and all?
@PowerBIBro4 ай бұрын
Love the question and thank you for asking it! You can apply the gradient option from format style but you'll notice an important difference in the color results. To test it out, apply the gradient option and use the value of # Titles. You'll see the gradient does apply, but it scales from highest 'VALUE' to lowest 'VALUE', so the color does not go from Top to Bottom like the applied levels. The scaling would function similarly to how the bar chart scales from high to low. Hope this helps clarify the difference!

Howdy! Great toturial and walkthrough. I know this is just a demo, but I kinda think its not necessary to throw away columns so carelessly. Also would it not be better to unpivot the genre column? this way we only keep the ALPHABETICALTY first genre, losing the majority of genres...
@PowerBIBro10 ай бұрын
Great questions and thanks for the feedback! Removing the columns was intentional just to keep it focused on this demo, certainly a good practice to keep all applicable columns your end users may need. I also like the genre idea, to expand on it, I’ll create a separate “genre” table which splits all the comma separated values into rows, then we can count every possible genre a title is allocated to (one to many) Thanks for the ideas and feedback!!

For the gradient, are you creating it in Power Point? Gradient backgrounds are not within PBI, but to obtain a gradient background perform the following. Change the background of a ppt slide to a gradient color, save that as an image, then add the image as the background to the PBI canvas. Within power point, the background settings are under the format section if you right click on the background.

Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like it may be a relationship issue in the data model. If you open your data model and review the relationships, are the bi-directional or single? You can open up the pbix file in the git to review the model used in the tutorial. If you try double clicking your relationship lines, and setting them to bi-directional (both), does that fix your issue?
