Great video. I found a quicker way to do this though. By creating a text column and entering the link to the SharePoint list entry into it. Then changing the column's the data category for the column in Power BI to a URL. It worked for me.
@Enea2 ай бұрын
You created the text column in SharePoint? How did you populate it with the link?
@LukeSmith-y2d2 ай бұрын
@@Enea Right click on the item in the SharePoint List and "Copy Link" then paste it into the text column.

Have fun doing that for thousands of rows...
@LukeSmith-y2d2 ай бұрын
@@Enea Well I didn't have thousands of rows. Sorry I could not solve your specific problem.
@Enea2 ай бұрын
No worries, what I meant is that if you have thousands of rows, this solution is not sustainable. It has to be dynamic otherwise you can directly go to SharePoint and search, takes less time

This is very helpful. MS should ahve this available out of box within SP or within BI as an availble column. anyways, a quick shortcut I used was to directly copy URL from the sharepoint Item. Once you open a particular item, SP form gives an option to "copy link". use that link all the to "ID=", and the concentante with the ID column within Power BI and it will work as magic.

Awesome, another road leading to Rome! Thank you for sharing Imran :)

How did you concentrate that? I have the URL, and I see where the ID # would go. but haven't been able to join them together when a person clicks.

Thank you muy friend for the video, I have a question, you give us an example with one SharePoint list, but what happen if I have to SharePoint list, how do I change dynamic the link to another SharePoint I the power bi table?
@marcellamelhem9607 Жыл бұрын
my link is different, the end of the link is : ID= "ID NUMBER"&pa="text"&e="text". I can't find this pa and e column
@Enea Жыл бұрын
Did you follow the steps 1 to 1? SharePoint should be the same for everyone! Make sure you open the item to grab the url from the same option like I did
@LoganSnyder-zf3dc Жыл бұрын
I had a similar link format because my SharePoint list is using a PowerApps form. I was able to copy before/after ID number like Enea mentioned to get it to work.

First of all, thank you for your KZbin channel videos. They helped me a lot. I am working on an office project. I made a power app to fetch data to SharePoint list. Now I am making a real-time power bi report out of it. I have some multiple-choice selection fields in my SP list. I can’t extract data in power BI Online. That’s why I am trying to connect the SP online list to Power BI desktop. But it throws credentials errors while connecting. I am unable to connect. I searched a lot and tried many solutions but all in vain. I would be grateful if you could do any help in this regard.

What is the error? Have you tried to delete the connection in Power BI and create it again? Without seeing the error I cannot help much, sorry

Thanks for this, it’s the exact solution I needed, but I’m stuck at creating the custom column because I don’t have content type ID, only content type on my share point list. I have tried Googling and looking at hidden columns but I can’t see it! Do you know why it’s not showing up?
@Enea Жыл бұрын
It should be there, SharePoint is built the same way for everyone :)

@@Enea thanks so much for responding, I appreciate it! It’s not there at all, only “Content Type” which is just showing as “List” for every record in my column on power bi. I’ve read online there are settings for allowing content type management, is that related to this? It’s all confusing! Thanks for any help you can provide

Good point, check this article maybe it helps: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-a-content-type-to-a-list-or-library-917366ae-f7a2-47ad-87a5-9689a1884e60#:~:text=Go%20to%20the%20settings%20for,%3F%2C%20and%20then%20select%20OK. Good luck!

@@jellyforjam I don't see the contenttypeid if I choose implementation 2.0, but I can see it when choose 1.0. Take a try if that helps.
