How is increasing pressure proportional to increasing boiling point?

IIRC there is something called steam pressure within a liquid which rises as temperature does, so water boils when its "steam pressure" (Its called like that in my country) rises above atmospheric pressure, now imagine you boil water on top of a mountain, it will boil at a lower temperature because the atmospheric pressure is slightly lower so if you rise the pressure the steam pressure needs to rise even more which results in a higher boiling point, I hope it was the answer you were looking for.
