This year's guest is Johann Rupert, Chairman of Swiss-based luxury goods company Richemont and locally based company Remgro.
MSG Afrika Group chairman Given Mkhari is the host this evening.
He promises to not shy away from tough questions and give South Africans an insight into who Rupert is.

For the first part, this has been an eye opener on the Ruperts. I have always thought of him as a business genius, but I now learn how hard it was and see that nothing really comes easy. The multiple manoeuvres they had to do to stay afloat teaches the greatest lesson of all...nothing is constant and all businesses need to keep adapting to change, but also find a way to keep their moral integrity.

The most illiterate person? You uninformed. Read up who Given Mkhari is despite his young age I am even surprised myself at how young he looks yet he has achieved what many black professionals who have worked in media for years would never achieve because they were infatuated with fame of being on screen anchors. He is a multimillionaire and have a successful media company that owns several commercial radio stations. Perhaps he employs close to 400 people.

Guys I don't think Given is a bad interviewer. He was trying to direct the conversation, but Rupert is like any huge Titan of industry (like Trump), who who talks and controls the conversation. With Given's personality and E.Q, he was able to ask the questions we wanted, without making the other uncomfortable. If you wanted more, it's because you were expecting a CNN hard talk, but this was supposed to be something different.

Ey bru, I wrote that when the interview was starting ok. Apart from the racial shit I dont really care. I feel that as a black people we too emotional to this shit. A man who cannot control their emotions can be easily controlled because If i say something to you I can provoke you to act a certain way. So with that being said, we need to first understand ourselves first. We need to understand how on earth are we still in this shithole called poverty? Sure most of us we dont have money ok.. but how are we as a people continuing to participate in our own oppression? We dont support each other, we hate each others success ? Okay so our minds are not together when it comes to certain things. The more we dig deeper you can see that its the mental condition passed down to us.
@chilizasanele

@@brianlittle6262 So the more we understand ourselves the better we can move as a people. Think about we are the majority but we are so divided , muslims and indians practice group economics and they are killing it... But where are we in all this ? @@chilizasanele Indeed true, Rupert mentions this fact a few times during this interview I have watched the entire 2+ hours of it. and central to it is that we as a country need to be speaking to each other and not shouting over each other and groupings like EFF and BLF are just shouting as their agenda is quite different from 50 million other people in this country's. Too many South Africans do not listen and only look for whatever they can construe in a negative sense. People must respect Given. Despite his young age I am even surprised myself at how young he looks yet he has achieved what many black professionals who have worked in media for years would never achieve because they are infatuated with fame of being on screen anchors. He is a multi millionaire that is still on the rise and has a successful media company that owns several commercial radio stations. Perhaps he employs close to 400 people.

The woke brigade don't respect anyone who isn't putting white people back in their place. Which is why Mugabe who committed genocide against Ndebele people is hero to them he's someone whom we should emulate because he did the most important thing according to these microwave Marxist he put the white people in their place.

This is no interview. The chairman (interviewer) is tainted, he is just riding the cart Rupert is driving, the unfortunate thing is that we have to listen to this arrogance by a denialist epitome of White Monopoly Capital. The interviewer lacks the background content of this dialogue of which results in him just listening to Rupert go on and on. We deserve a real interview not this disgraceful piece of debris.

@ThamsanqaTLJ

@@TheBoorgatspook 1. He should've went in depth in the old man's investments in South Africa, he only mentioned it in passing. How apartheid contributed into his fathers success instead we hear Rupert going on about how his father did not work with the apartheid government "which is utterly rubbish!!" the only reason it they couldn't do business over seas because apartheid activists such as Tambo went over seas to seek support to boycott anything imports from South Africa, now if the journalist knew that he would've told him he was misleading people by his statement. 1.1. When he came back to South Africa in 1979 and founded Rand Merchant Bank of which he was CEO, who did this bank benefit? 1.2.Who awarded him with "Businessman of the Year?!" the apartheid government. 1.3. This man is Chancellor of Stellenbosch University, the very same University that filled segregation till today, the same university that has had white student movements (which he denies it's existence) that are aimed at oppressing and segregating the minority groups and black people in particular. i can go on all day.

Understand, if you understood you certainly wouldn’t be supporting a party with outright murderous ideology .i fully understand the way the EFF plays on your suffering to garner resentment and jealousy in you so they can push their own cause, which sadly has nothing to with empowering individuals but rather making themselves rich. Old tactic set the poor on the wealthy... divide... conquer . Stop being mad and start taking personal responsibility for your own life . You are the only thing stopping you from joining the free market get in their is lost to eat but you have to work. Freedom isn’t for free
