Gatka is a part of life for all Khalsa irrespective of age or gender, either a child or an old person, everybody has to learn, perform and adpot it. Khalsa does not perform Gatka to show off or to scare somebody, it is a religious bonding. It does not matter if somebody like it or not but Khalsa has to perform it, not to promote violence but it is a part of our religion and also for self defence. I am sure sajjid got scared and pissed in his pant after watching brilliant performance of Khalsa.

I am not Punjabi nor Sikh, but I still respect Gatka as an art and a sport. What Sajid said makes sense, as kids shouldn't be using swords for any reason. But this is a tradition and teaches to protect oneself and help others and be a good human/person. It teaches values and discipline. I am not saying anybody is wrong, I am simply saying we should see beyond the sword play and find the deeper message within.

A tear rolled down my face watching this. It's sad that there is still a distinct hint of rival relations between sikh and muslim people. If Sajid had a valid point it would not have effected me. Kids learn all sorts of martial arts at young ages and to say this is wrong hurts. With the state of the youth in Punjab today, it sickens me to think that any youth fighting through the peer pressure of using drugs (Nasha) is demotivated from doing so. I hope more youth like me are inspired by this.

1.Violence comes from ideology and mentality not the sword! 2.Any individual who studies any martial art is less violent than those that don’t, because martial arts teach discipline, humbleness and compassion. 3. Just because an individual knows how to fight does not mean they are violent. 4. To say that because a child is doing martial arts this is promoting violence is an insult. 5.
