He really looks like he's going start writing a letter; to her majesty about the native savages and how they continue to reject being civilized and won't accept Jesus and the Queen's common law. And the Viceroy/Governor/Magistrate needs more powers and more autonomy in order to pacify the natives.

Why doesn't anyone ever include the word "preserve"? They always say "protect and defend." Preserve is just as, maybe more, important.

The war on Iraq was a disaster from almost every point, terrorism in the area actually increased, since Saddam as bad as he was, wasn't a fundamentalist, the cost in terms of manpower and money was immense and now there are countless families that now resent the intervention, god only knows all the ramifications it will have

I don’t agree with a lot of his decision making, but there’s no doubt of his intelligence or understanding of the Federal Government. With the exception that the Constitution states outright that habeas corpus can be suspended during times of rebellion.

They did it by the book, but they made the Executive branch too powerful. Too much consideration of military money on their part, a true conservative would have had more measures to balance power and preserve state authority. I don't want to judge the man too harshly.

Cheney is a badass..perfect man for the situation that took place. He set very brutal policies but it had to be done at that time. United States will respect their rights, but war happens and the envelope had to be pushed to the very edge, and we had to temporarily step into the dark shadows to get things done! Brilliant Man!

Oh you voted these men to defend the nation I see. it just so happened that 911, one of the biggest and most successful "terrorist attack" happened under their watch and you actually approved of him for "doing his job". That's like a Dr killed their patient on the operation table and called it a success you know that?
@udarpavarota396
@udarpavarota396 5 жыл бұрын
The best response, according to you, would have been to do nothing. Let the terrorists know 'we're not going to do anything after you attacked us. Everything will stay the same. Come and attack us again.' Destabilize the Middle East? The Middle East was never stable. When was the Middle East ever stable? The Middle East is always in turmoil. They have so many fundamentalisms (radicalisms) they can't possibly reach anything that ressembles stability. Don't go around selling smoke. The torture part was necessary because if you're weak and your enemies don't fear you, it's game over. They'll walk all over you. That's part of life, whether a sports team, a person, a company or a country. You pay a high price for weakness. Torture sent a message. Maybe no important information was obtained through torturing, but it sent a clear message 'don't mess with us because we'll come after you.' The terrorists are fundamentalists. They believe their ideas are the truth and whoever doesn't embrace their same convictions deserves to die. Do you want people like that to be in control? I'll fight to death to stop radicals like these from gaining any sort of control over my life. Do you think the American Dream is all about scratching your balls in a shopping mall while you look at women's asses? You gotta fight for your country too, not just pimp around. These men actually cared. They may have caught them off guard. But the response was swift and efficient. The worst thing they could do after 911 is convey weakness, and they did precisely the opposite. They showed the American people they could overcome any adversity, and that nothing would bring this country down. I'm proud of Bush and Cheney, I'll tell you that.
@thedude5641
@thedude5641 5 жыл бұрын
@@udarpavarota396 you don't have to commit torture to be strong. A strong nation can be committed to its principles, even in time of war. If the shoe were on the other foot, and a foreign government captured your neighbors to "send a message" and tortured them sadistically as was done at Abu Ghraib, what would you do? Cower? Or would you fight? That's precisely what happened and it did little to make our soldiers and civilians safer. The priority of these men was not protecting Americans. There were no WMDs in Iraq. There was no connection between Sadaam and 9/11. There were however many oil fields which Dick Cheney's company profited from tremendously. There's a difference between being strong, and being evil.
