Hey guys, hope everyone enjoys this viewer-requested video on how to make displays/dioramas for your figures! Scenery can be done this way regardless of Power Ranger season, or property. Doesn't have to be Power Rangers. Doesn't even have to be action figures, this is the same way model railroad scenery is done, and miniatures were made this way for Power Rangers, and other TV/film. Hoping to see a ton of engagement in the comments so I can come back with more videos like this, answering your questions and showing you other ways to do scenery. Mia and I know lots of good stuff we'd be happy to share! Gotta see support/interest though.

For your Go-Onger display you should try and design a custom Go On Wings ranger figure to display with your other figures that would be really cool

Samurai was a great time for the fandom, hopefully one day another renaissance like that can revitalize the series.

I ended up cutting that from this video but almost talked about the fandom then. It felt like a different place. People seemed happier, and that certainly motivated us to grow the channel and keep making fun content that people were actually there for and enjoying. It was a steady decline though from Samurai season 2 through Super Megaforce. Initial excitement for Dino Charge, but 2016 was an extremely toxic year in this community followed by a mass exodus in 2017 after the failed movie and Ninja Steel. Since then the people who remained have mostly just been looking for reasons to be unhappy. There's actually still so much to enjoy these days but the toxic and anger isn't something I see being put back in the box. I really think Hasbro or someone else needs to find a way to reach new, younger people who can still find joy and excitement in fun things.

for RPM you could always look into some resin printed Warhammer 40k terrain/walls. The dilapidated factory aesthetic on most of those parts would probably mesh pretty well with the season's vibe.
@MMPRtoys

That could be cool, but I make all of my own things. Hopefully the scenery you've seen us do over the years points to Mia and I both being artists and hopefully fairly good at what we do. It'll be much less expensive to make that yourself, which I can do in just a few minutes with foam and paint.

Okay, finally made myself look at the data. We're 4K below average. People are mass-declining the video when shown to them, and a bunch of people unsubbed b/c of this. Don't ask how I can be surprised, it's always been this way. I guess I can at least be very disappointed. All of my "we want" videos end up with me being very frustrated. 😕 I tried!

Samurai sure takes me back. Not only was it the season that was airing when I got into Power Rangers, but also the first one I saw in whole before Megaforce came out. I did technically see RPM alongside Samurai, but nevertheless, Samurai still remains one of my favorite seasons. And even if some people might be negative towards it, I'll likely never see it as a bad season as its the one that made me the Power Ranger fan I am today.

This is excellent work, ma man. Also, I feel like plastic trays that hold toys when you buy toys can also make for pretty good rock molds. Just put paper on top of it and color the paper brown or any other brown paper and then proceed to paint on it. 3:55, recently watched Shinkenger. It was sooo good. 5:22, by the way man. I've met Jason Faunt at Singapore Comic Con last year and I was talking about you to him and one of my fave PR moments was him blasting the everlasting **** outta ya during 2014. It may not be a canon PR moment but dang, it is to me and it's also pretty funny. XD Nice to see Princess Shayla coming in. My fave moment is her bickering with Merrick and pouting like an anime girl and ranting in front of the Rangers. Usually mentors are cool and collected like Zordon but when you see your mentor throwing a tantrum akin to a Rumiko Takahashi girl, it hits different. XD Also, her eating a burger to attract Kite/Erutan 2/Animus. 5:25, Jason Chan was definitely a highlight for me last year since he was in a show from my country called 'Parental Guidance' and he was a foil to the main character. It was a show back in the late 2000s and you can watch it only on Singapore's Channel 5. I'm shocked he wasn't a national icon from where I am. 5:43, dude! That's awesome! His Turboranger theme was amazing! I wonder if the actor who plays Yamimaru has ever been to conventions. His character was pretty cool. 5:45, YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME?!! Any chance TJ Roberts from Masked Rider jumpin' in in the future at any point or something? Still, I wonder what Inoue's plans are since he owns AIC. Still waiting on that Dangaioh sequel or Megazone 23. 5:45, nice to see Tetsuo coming in at last. Poor guy had a very bad luck years ago but now, it looks like he's doing better. Also, props to stunt actors as well. They're the athletes in this category. Wait..Ernie Reyes Jr.?! Hehe, James Rolfe is gonna love this. DAMN!! That's a lot of star power here. 7:44, add in the RPM dino rangers too. They're pretty cool. 8:14, reel her in! REEL HER IN!!! 8:31, Getter-2?!

Great video Bruno, three questions about your models, 1 how heavy are your models, I have a shelf on my entertainment center that would be perfect but I’m concerned if the model is two heavy it might break the shelf. 2 I’ve been using table top game miniature terrain grass for my models and I’ve brushed on Mod Podge as the adhesive and put the grass on top, it isn’t sticking very well, is there a better glue to use? And 3 are using plaster of Paris or is it another kind of plaster?
@MMPRtoys
@MMPRtoys 2 ай бұрын
I'm very careful not to make them heavy. Originally I didn't want to use plaster at all for that reason, but I've kept it very thin. I made my own rock molds so it's just a very thin layer over plaster cloth which really doesn't weigh much. I never tried to weigh one of those, I can just say not very heavy. I've seen some of these shelves sag from the books they're intended to hold, my shelves don't sag at all. The figure displays are made to fit into the IKEA Billys. The bigger set I was working on at 0:42 used no plaster at all. It was all insulation foam, spray foam, and joint compound. I doubt it weighed more than a pound. Had I done my Samurai set with the rock molds the way they came, that probably would have gotten heavy. I like the look of the rock molds but you can also just carve the foam and paint on that directly. Especially if you dry brush it, it'll still look good. I know a lot of table top game people just use hot wire tools on foam and paint them, and they look fine. Mod Podge Matte is what I use for my grass, it's not working? I usually use scenic cement on top of that, but I also use watered down Mod Podge, and I can't tell the difference. That's what I usually use to keep my dirt from going anywhere. I get my plaster from Home Depot in a big bag. I used to get it at Michael's until I saw the bags were bigger/cheaper at Home Depot. I can't tell the difference. Woodland Scenics has their plaster... it all seems the same to me.

I did! That’s gonna be a big giant thing!
@MMPRtoys
@MMPRtoys Ай бұрын
If it were $500, the answer would probably be no, but I'd be considering it. Maybe there was some awesome video we could do with it. But people would need to show up for the videos. Viewership is how we were able to buy stuff like that in the past. Big things need places to go. I have no place for that on any of my current displays. I don't even know how many versions of Megazord I own at this point, in all different scales, that do and don't transform. I personally don't need another Megazord, I would be buying it for the channel. In the past we did take all kinds of viewer requests, b/c people were watching the videos, and we could. I still don't know the exact price but I've heard between $2,500 - $4,500? You don't often hear me talk about "irresponsible spending" over here, more like "I think I need that!" but there's no way I can justify that. I feel like that's crossing a line. It's a cool thing for sure, love that the eyes light up, but I would not spend that on a Megazord, and our viewers are not showing up in the numbers that would justify spending thousands on a video, and that'd be a basic review. This video was something people begged me for, and you can see the support we have these days.
@mariosion
@mariosion Ай бұрын
@@MMPRtoys Very understandable and true. It is a shame that viewership is down, especially when your videos have so much passion put into them. I’ve noticed this trend of low viewership across a couple other non PR channels. Especially this one Nintendo channel (Gamexplain) had to let go of their full time staff due to decreasing revenues. And I’m sure you and Mia know Nintendo is a brand that is well in the public eye especially in recent years. I don’t know what it is, maybe people are just watching less online content? I don’t know what it could be. Power Rangers has the potential to see resurgence, and this channel does as well in its own right. As a fan, I am here for the long haul. (Then again, people could be saving videos for later viewing, but I don’t have anything to back that up, other than the fact that I do that sometimes )

@@mariosion There's a lot to know here. KZbin has over 2.49 billion monthly active users, the TLDR with PR stuff is mostly apathetic fans. The kids grew up and moved on. Adult fans like AI garbage, video essays explaining things we all should have known 30 years ago, and really basic toy reviews, which are terribly over-saturated now. This is a subject I could talk endlessly on. That's the summary. Fans can always find drama and will click on something if they believe they'll be outraged, but art, craft videos, how-to, behind the scenes, vlogs, anything emotional, nostalgic, sentimental, anything involving nature... no, no, no, and no. We appreciate everyone who is here for us and the work we do, but they're a minority and it's getting really hard to serve the larger fandom now. There's just so little they'll engage with. We want to make art, we're reaching the "what's the toy and tell us why it sucks!" crowd. Not a ton of joy in this fandom now.

Now the real question is, how many times do you think things have fallen off the shelves as you have built the displays?
@MMPRtoys
@MMPRtoys 2 ай бұрын
Almost never. If you're having trouble with that, use those stands I've shown, from the ones they peg into to the Figuart stands. They work. Once I'm done with my sets I do plan to hot glue a few of them to really make sure they don't go anywhere. But that black rubber mat in front of the shelves is for if they do fall, not hitting the cement floor.
@ssjesf
@ssjesf 2 ай бұрын
Is there anything special you do to keep figures from falling on your shelves?
@MMPRtoys
@MMPRtoys 2 ай бұрын
Cross my fingers? 😀 If you stand them up well, they probably won't fall. A few I do have on stands though and I probably will glue-gun some of them once I'm done. Hot glue will generally stay, but you can also usually remove it. At least from the figure, not sure if it'll damage your scenery, but that can be fixed if it does.

If you're asking what cons are near you, I know there are cons in Texas, but living in PA I don't follow them. I Googled "comic cons in texas" and "Big Texas Comiccon" came up, it's in San Antonio. Collect-A-Con is in Houston, GalaxyCon is in Austin, and so on. Again I don't know any of these, I just did a search based on your comment. I appreciate that. I know there are diorama channels out there that get millions of views, thousands of comments, and they're doing exactly the same stuff you see on this channel, the difference is they're reaching people who are interested in that type of content, we're reaching people looking for toy reviews, and unfortunately there's very little overlap. I've been showing how I make sets, displays, how we make the videos, BTS of the actual show & toy commercials, going back 15+ years now, and people over here largely just don't care. That means I can't devote a ton of time to making those videos. It's all about what people show up for. Had I seen a large positive reaction to this video, then I would have been happy to come back with longer videos. Under 5K in 24 hours? That would have been bad for us when we had 50 subs. This video was a disaster. Posting more like it but longer won't do anyone any favors. Mia and I have so much we *could* offer but nearly everything is rejected and now people are favoring AI garbage videos. It's pretty frustrating.

Great work on the Samurai Rangers. I have a question however about white zords like Titanus or Tigerzord. I usually go to eBay when I buy new zords for my collection. Some people who sell their toys however make the mistake of displaying their toys near or directly in front of a window. The toys get exposed to sunlight and in time, they turn yellow. What can you suggest people do when they buy toys that basically get sunburned? Should we just give the toys a new coat of paint or is there a quick fix that problem?
@MMPRtoys

I've never successfully done any of those other things besides painting and I've heard the Retr0brite actually makes the yellow come back faster. I had offered to do a full yellow Falconzord restoring video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3Wlm5aKnLZ7a5Ysi=6SmRMLlYF5WvMzwB&t=208 there wasn't a ton of interest, but you can still see how it was turning out and the paint I used. Some spray paint doesn't like plastic, but these paints have been great. Same as I used on SMP Tor.

Lost a lot of subs, many regulars are telling KZbin "not interested" when suggested to them. I know there are massive modeling and diorama channels out there, but our viewers largely dislike BTS & craft stuff. Nothing new. Really very little curiosity in how things are made, from the show, to props, to toys, to commercials, to sets/dioramas/displays etc. 😕 Haven't seen a single comment really indicating this is something people are going to try or asking followup questions for future videos. Maybe I just explained it that well? :)

Thanks :) You start with a wish! Step two is making it so! You can start small. Doesn't have to be super fancy either. You can also just stack foam and paint it brown and not deal with plaster. Some people just cut foam and paint it, some dry brush it too which can be a good-enough effect. The more you do, the better at it you'll get.

What a nostalgic video, I think I started to watch your videos when Samurai was on TV. So good memories...

Hmmm, maybe for the RPM display you could custom build Venjix’s pillar form (y’know in his lair?) with the glowing red eye for the upper part of that display? Just an idea I had, unless you already thought of that, heh. Too bad they never did a playset or something that included him. I remember in the RPM toy commercials they featured him on the cool little sets they built for the commercials for the Grinders to interact with. And man has time flown since Samurai. Heck, I remember when I first started watching your channel back in 2015 when Dino Charge was the newest season, really helped me get back into the Power Ranger series actually, among other reasons. Those Samurai vids were only a few years old then, now they’re over a decade old.

Yeah, promise there's nothing I don't think of with these displays. Mia was going to design and 3D print that entire section, with glowing light, of course. Now I'm not sure it really fits. We'll see. Everything takes time. (An easier way to do that is paper towel roll, but we'd be doing the back walls too, the design in mind would really be better printed). For Beast Morphers we already made the weapons display, Evox's computer, and the cybergate. I go through the entire season multiple times before starting a set, making sure I've seen every last detail. Ultimately, the scenery mostly gets hidden by the toys and it's a small space you're working with. Many of the ideas I start with end up not fitting. But, I always make it work no matter the space. Mia's not available now for 3D printing, working other things, but she's eventually going to make some additional pieces for the Samurai cockpit, the Lightspeed Aquabase, and some other things here and there. Hoping to work in scenery from the Dai Shi temple on the Jungle Fury set (and wish I could find some larger reference photos for that!)

Was Power Ranger Samurai the first to bring the Japanese version of the megazord to sell in Toy-R-Us
@MMPRtoys
@MMPRtoys 2 ай бұрын
MMPR through Mystic Force used Japanese molds. Overdrive and Jungle Fury were a combo of Japan and original, then RPM was the first to be entirely US. GingaiOh in the Japanese box was sold at FAO Schwarz during Lost Galaxy. Then ShinkenOh was sold at Toys R US in the Japanese box with a paper slip wrapped around the bottom saying Power Rangers. People didn't buy that or Gosei Great, or the FIguarts, so that ended the imports, unfortunately. Super cool that they tried though. I'm still glad I grabbed a few extra ShinkenOhs from TRU. All of them are on my Zord wall in different formations.

Just finished my display shelves for my Dragonball SHF and Halo figures a couple of months ago. seeing them and other creators really makes me want to do the same for my Power Rangers Zordon Era display shelves. Loving your work for your shelves so far dude. it's honestly like a Sentai/ Power Rangers Museum experience seeing them. No too used to using plaster myself atm, but have included LEDs and even used clear resin on some of my previous displays. keep going. Was thinking for RPM, could do a couple of buildings and possibly have a city backdrop printed for the shelf back similar to what I'm doing for the DBZ display backdrops.

RANGERS TOGETHER, SAMURAI FOREVER! Take your time with the displays Bruno , I’m sure they’ll all turn out morphenomenal ( I’m a bit curious on where you’re going to put the little plastic barrels in your rpm display) also I noticed that there’s going to be two different voice actresses for Rita at powermorphicon, please see if you can get an interaction of that. Like I said before, Mia please keep an eye on Bruno with the toys ps never knew that the rest of the wild force team was made into auto flip figures until now ( I only have the red ranger and I’m very happy with it) that’s pretty cool Bruno.

Rita was played by three people. There was the Japanese actress in the Japanese footage, Machiko Soga, and then in the US, Carla Perez played her on screen. Barbara Goodson was the voice actress for Rita all through the series (and also in the 95 & Turbo movies, as well as Once & Always). Barbara Goodson did a number of other voices on the series as well.

I agree. Power Rangers series are like songs that anchor us to a time and place. Although there are series I don't like so much, watching them regardless remind me of that time and place and thats quite comforting.

Now there's something with Hector? This video *beautifully* illustrates who we are, what we do, what we make, what to expect from us. Why is this what fans want from such a creative unique specialty channel? I don't know anything about Hector, I'm just trying to bring positivity to what seems to be an increasingly drama-driven joyless space right now. Really hope you enjoyed this video.

Great video Bruno, two questions about your models, 1 how heavy are your models, I have a shelf on my entertainment center that would be perfect but I’m concerned if the model is two heavy it might break the shelf. And 2 I’ve been using table top game miniature terrain grass for my models and I’ve brushed on Mod Podge as the adhesive and put the grass on top, it isn’t sticking very well, is there a better glue to use?
