This is why I love the internet. The "Ape shall not kill ape!" at 10:02 has been rattling around my head since 1975. Can't tell you how satisfying it is to hear it again.

Wow, for 11 minutes there, I was a kid again. I never thought I would hear that record again. It was the only one of the series I had and listened to it every day. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. CHEERS

Sean Hastings Kick Ass! I loved the Power Records 45rpm book and record versions for some of the greatest classic science fiction of my, and/our, time. I first got the POTA collection for my 5th Christmas 1974, and played them on my portable stereo set. Too bad millenials can never have the same wonderful experience as we genX'ers had.

I listened to it everyday as well in 1974. The same 4 voice actors over and over in the various roles throughout the series.

I loved these stories when I was a little boy back in the 70s, but now in my 40s I appreciate them even more because I recognize the message the creators of PotA were sending. Thanks for sharing and keeping that message alive :)

Thank you for this! My mother sold all of my books and records at a garage sale when I was a kid. I never thought I'd see or hear them again. The images and the words were as if I'd heard them all yesterday!

10 years ago... The writing was far superior than the actual script, if only they had the chance to stretch it to at least 3 issues I think this could've been the best piece of ape media after the original

You know what’s funny had Caesar not went after his lost past and stayed the course leading up to when Taylor and his crew arrives it’s crazy everything was adding up all of it ever since the third POTA apes rising and coming back to where it all started

Did they not make a book and record for Conquest? That's actually the only one i didn't have so I wonder if that's why.
@goapebilly8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Glicksman they didnt make conquest because they felt it was to violent and bloody, parents wouldnt buy it,due to violence

Power Records always did book record sets of 4 so they left conquest off.
@vinylrecord68 Жыл бұрын
"Conquest" was not included for two reasons: (1) The sets were released in a package of four. "Battle" closed the series at the time. (2) The adaptations were compiled on the 12" LP album. There would not have been room to include "Conquest."

@@johnmccabe6867Not always. They did a Spider-Man album with 5 stories, a Justice League Of America album with 5 stories plus 3 songs and a Star Trek album with 6 stories.

@@goapebillyI'm not sure that's true. Power Records also did a Kojak album where an illegal immigrant was trying to kill his boss with a meat cleaver/butcher knife because he and his wife were being human trafficked.

Funny this series used the same voice actors over and over again for the various roles. They weren’t very good about trying to disguise their voices to sound different from role to role. I listened to this series when I was 10 in 1974 and loved it.

@vinylrecord68 That wasn't always the case. The Amazing Spider-Man Volume 2 featured 5 stories: "Invasion Of The Dragon-Men", "Conquistador", "The Mad Hatter Of Manhattan", "The Abomininable Showman" and "The Bells Of Doom" which were also released as a book & record ("Invasion Of The Dragon Men") and as singles for the rest of the stories. The monster series (Frankenstein, Dracula and Werewolf By Night) was not released as an album, but as book & records and singles except Man-Thing which was book and record only. They also released a Star Trek album with 6 stories: "The Robot Masters", "The Logistics Of Stampede", " The Human Factor", "The Man Who Trained Meteors", "A Mirror For Futility" and "The Crier In Emptiness" but most of the stories were edited into shorter versions so you had to buy the book and record or the singles to get the full length version and later the Star Trek Volume 3 album. The Songs & Stories Of The Justice League Of America album had 5 stories featuring The Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Plastic Man and Metamorpho. It was a reprint of an earlier Leo Records release but deleted songs about The Flash, Wonder Woman and Aquaman to make room for The Flash story ("The 3 Faces Of Mr. Big") that was not on the original Leo release. The Classics Illustrated book & records (Robin Hood, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Robinson Crusoe, Huckleberry Finn, Davy Crockett and Little Women were 6 book & record only releases that were supposed to also have included Moby Dick, The Last Of The Mohicans and Gulliver's Travels which would have totalled 9 if they would have made them and they wouldn't have all fit on an album without condensing a couple of them. Shazam!: The Mighty Dr Illusion was a stand alone single that was not a part of any DC hero collection album.
