Only HP can top MS when it comes to hilariously bad advertisements. Rapping about UNIX and PA-RISC is so rad yo.

Oh man! Finally! I had an VHS with this and about 15 minutes of presentation of the Model 750 back in 1991! Showcasing how much faster it was than the Sun Sparc systems, and a real life case study with a team of ultra business nerds solving a case within the short deadline, having to use early video conferencing and shit! Ahhh, the early 90s! So cheesy and awkward! Fun! 😂

I think the dancing is top notch and I wish the singer/dancer had more screen time. The outfit adds to it perfectly. The lyrics are also great.

Bah. I took IRIX over HP-UX and SunOS any day of the week. That is, if the Indigo2s weren't occupied. 😄
@unixnerd23 Жыл бұрын
@@NuGanjaTron I found IRIX a pain to install. Sold maybe 40 used SGIs back in the days, but nearly 1000 HPs and Suns. I liked SGI hardware, especially the Granite keyboards and mice. Might still have some in fact.

Yeah, they look cheap with their plastic shell, which actually belies the heavy sheet steel chassis underneath. Gotta love the modularity of the early 700s.

Wow. Just wow. I hope the guys who did this have since struck it from their CVs. The "artist" here probably works at a McDo now and is still trying to flog the freebie 700 he got for making this vid on ebay! This is pretty weird coming from the most conservative of workstation vendors back in the day. I've got a heavy 720 "Snake" box here, and rock solid and well built as it is (minus the PSU, which often fails), it's a bit naff compared to SGI or SUN. Particularly those dorky mice with their chunky buttons were nothing to write home about.
@NuGanjaTron Жыл бұрын
Update: My 720 box decided it was finally time to self-destruct its mains filter. I've witnessed a lot of EMI caps fail, but the barrage of fireworks I got shooting out the back of this thing was jawdropping! Remarkably, the PSU appears to be still ok, but the IEC input module is _beyond_ toast! BUT... it did NOT catch fire; functioned as designed! Good job, Schaffner.
