I remember this game just popped up at our house one day and my brother and I could not stop playing it. I miss it alot.

The fact that this is sponsored by Komatsu, an actual heavy equipment company, makes it even more funny. I don't think you'd ever see Caterpillar putting their name on something like this!
@EmeraldBlack-up6xi7 жыл бұрын
NorthStarBlue1 Yeah, about that. They did have a game on PC. It was called Construction Zone and it had its own controller like this, only it went over the keyboard. I think it came out around 1999.

@@EmeraldBlack-up6xi The PS1 version actually has a dedicated controller for power shovel! I had to snag one once I learned about it. It's actually a very well built twin joystick controller. Im going to show it off on my channel sometime soon.

Power Shovel is totally nuts, incredibly Japanese, and insanely fun once you get used to the difficult controls - another classic Taito coin-op makes a successful transition to consoles! And gotta love the insane guy screaming, "Lets ride a power shovel!" in Japanese on the title screen!

Being a kid, not knowing any english (or how to even read at all for that matter), i already knew this game was weird af. I felt kinda lost in the beginning but quickly understood what i had to do most times. This means this random ass japanese excavator game for the ps1 is *extremely* well designed, to the point it got a 3 or 4-something year old controlling a simple version of an excavator. Not to mention how fun it was!

What makes this extra weird isn't only that it's an excavator sim but done in a game show format.

Car destroying is much easier if you use the sharp end of the claw... I think the hardest one is the turtle catching and the claw obstacle course

Given how unfair some of those timers are, I'd hate to see a *harder* difficulty if that's the Normal one. Amazed how well and smoothly you controlled it, though.
@NintendoComplete2 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) it took quite a bit of practice to learn how to coordinate the movements. The controls are really funky.
@oninineone Жыл бұрын
They give you a lot of room to fail if you pick an easier difficulty, all of the timers are set by default to 200sec on the easiest level which is great as a 'sandbox' for getting used to the controls.

I think I either played a demo of this or it was rented for me when I was a kid. The unusual gameplay and the japanese announcer shouting constantly somehow stuck with me. I had to search google for awhile to even find out what the name of this was. Super weird game, still looks fun after finding it again.
