I have the exact same USB socket but mounted it inside the frunk. This socket is absolutely not suitable for mounting outside. That cap is absolutely not waterproof. Despite the negative comment, I just love your videos!

Hi I've installed similar one but with built in voltmeter. Which will be replaced with 1xUSBC + 1xUSBA I've bought. I've installed it inside the trunk directly into battery cover. It is connected to the relay and fuse. There I have also switch for spot lights and one 12V socket for the compressor. Have a good ride.

So funny, when I saw you sitting there in the tee, shorts and flip flops, I said he dresses like I do when I am doing maintenance on the bike. I call it my Jimmy Buffet tropical work attire. My dog, cat and parrot usually hang out keeping me company and making sure I don't get too stressed out. The ole NC looks beautiful even though it will soon be 20 years old. What can you say, it's a Honda...

Good job mate. I fitted a dual rectangular one off ebay, directly below the lcd screen. The dual USB I use for satnav & phone, the 12v aux is connected directly (fused) to the battery. I use it for inflator or conveniently connecting my optimiser in winter. Very useful arrangement.

Hi. Could You please share the link to the rectangular dual usb socket You fit below the LCD screen? I’d prefer to make use of a standard hole rather than drilling new ones… 🫣 Thanks 🇿🇦

Nice vid as usual. But there are two things I would like to comment on. First, removed the 12-volt socket and replace it with a direct USB port. This is means in the future you will not be able to connect a portable air blower for the tires , unless you have a blower with a built-in battery, or a blower that works via a direct USB port. The other thing is, it was possible not to install the on and off socket, and just disconnecting the blue light wire from inside the USB port, and in case it cannot be opened, you can only break the blue light, which is useless any way . Thanks for the video
@AfricaTwin-Stuff

I have a normal socket inside the glove box for non-usb use. Good tip about the blue light though.

I fitted a USB oulet inside the glove box but found that it draws about 4mA even when not in use, so the battery went flat while not in use for the winter months (yeah I was being a wimp). So I simply extended the wiring out through the service panel and used bullet connectors so I could connect /disconnect at will and Included the negative side of the battery using a spade connector. My battery charger/s has the same arrangment, so I can use the outlet when needed and charge the battery if needed without having to access the battery.

you should have fitted a heal tech thunder box, brilliant bit of kit if your running a lot of stuff of the battery.

You should have just wired the charger directly into a switch live, instead of installing an extra switch.

A solid state relay may be a better option over the switch that way you can't forget to turn if off. You just need to tap off a circuit that is only live with ignition as a switching signal
@AfricaTwin-Stuff
@AfricaTwin-Stuff Жыл бұрын
Yes. That would be better. But I’m too lazy to do it. Also, I WANT it live when the ignition is off. 👍

Lol I was wondering when you chose your spot, did it have clearance, and would it be better up high considering cargo, if that might accidentally turn it on. Good job anyway. I haven't fitted my own, yet I've had it for 2yrs waiting to install lol.

My usb had a switch on it seems like thats WAY easier than wiring a secondary thing in. Less connections less risks of one having a problem . Mine only has one USB though and a volt meter sense my bike doesn't have a volt meter comes in handy. To each there own good job though bud.

Hiya mate, Thank you for a perfectly produced video, I love to see you at work. You're like me if there is any way I can buy the wrong part I will and I usually do, like your switch, at least you tested it before fitting it, I usually don't find out till the jobs finished. Nice to see you and take care. Oh by the way I loved your safety wear.

Another useful video, thank you. You are responsible for me actually taking on some of these jobs 😂. I have noticed that my exhaust has suffered from corrosion around the joint between the silencer and pipe, British weather for you. Have you had to change any or all of the exhaust? Not seeing a video I guess you are fortunate enough not to need to with your weather. My bike was used daily before I bought it so find a lot of corrosion coming through, cheers

Small battery drain as it’s wired direct to battery
@PrototypeBoy88
@PrototypeBoy88 Жыл бұрын
Why did you install the socket outside? I installed it inside luggage box, it's much more safer from water. You can charge devices inside luggage box, and if you need to charge your phone in holder, you can throw cabel through rubber outside. Also it's older version of charge, not enough to charge modern phone. Better use power socket with QC 3.0, or even PD.

Nice video (as always).. I also fitted a USB socket to my NC in the same place as you fitted your switch in the frunck. However also worried about power drain I fitted a relay so the USB would only come on when I switched the bike on. It’s pretty fail safe so let me know if you want any details. Cheers!

Ah, the old adage "Measure twice, cut once" strikes again. Or my patented version "Measure twice, cut once, swear like buggery (whilst cursing everything in general and my life in particular) then go and buy/steal a replacement piece of material".... Oh well, if a job is worth doing it's worth forcing someone else to do it for you...

Oops :) Learn something useful from each of your videos. Why not go with something like the Thunderbox which turns on/off automatically. That way you don't have to remember to turn it on/off. And, very easy to add any new electrical accessories in the future.
