Good job, Jack! That is a pain to get the wheel in proper alignment when you disconnect the steering column clamp where it connects to the rack. I trust you got that sorted out by re-aligning it. I also hope you got that bolt 3:59 that was a problem fixed. You're fortunate you don't have to deal with massive amounts of corrosion like we do in the northeast of the USA where salt is used in the winter to melt the snow on the roads. It corrodes the metal and makes removal of components a huge pain in the rear as the fasteners can erode away to nothing. 15mm becomes 13.5 - threads look like they've been dipped in acid - that sort of thing. Some good channels to watch (if you haven't already) for car repair here on KZbin is South Main Auto (Eric O) and Rainman Ray's Repairs for a library of past repairs for tips. Thanks for bringing us along. It's very satisfying when you fix something yourself and do it right - not having to pay a mechanic to do it for you. Cheers!

Yep! Got the bolt fixed up, bashed the plate back into place and welded a nut in the bracket. And got the steering wheel lined up perfectly, what I did was slipped it back off the spline, and kept the steering wheel straight by using a strap down onto the seat, so when I was jiggling everything around it stayed straight. Was really happy with the result.

Well done, people under estimate the wide range of skills required to operate remote. Good workshop and tool set. Out of interest what do your tattoos mean, looks like Germanic script.

Hitting the side of the tapered steering joints works well.

Just a suggestion, when you u threaded the toe rod ends you should have counted how many turns it took to get each one off and put them back the same number , at least the alignment would be somewhere near it then 👍

You should have counted the number of turns when you removed the tie rod ends that would have got you close

Nevver cedases to amaze me WHY people go thru removing small cotter pins like that just put a spanner on the nut undo it will cut the cotter straight thru saves ages of time and lots of hassle
