Considering buying it for my Dakota. How is it on pavement turning corners? My truck is about 60/40 off-road/on road use.

The play is between the 2 center pices. That sandwiches the carrier pin that let's it work. When the tork is applied it pushes the 2 pices apart to ingage the axle shaft gears. The gears are tapered so it will separate with help from the springs. Not to hard to understand but you don't. Any mechanical inclined person with eye sight could tell what I was talking about. Sorry but I guess that's not you. You can lead a hourse to water but you can't make it drink.

Richmond gear, the people who made the first locker, the "Lock right ", makes one of the best out there, knows how to make a locker. This guy has no clue what he's talking about. He obviously has no concept of machining tolerances, please people, if you don't know what you're talking about, keep it to yourself.

20 years on a K5 400 whp plow truck. Never had a single issue. Also used it in mud bogs along with plowing. Solid locker never a single issue.

My install was a Saturday morning job. Had it back together by 2:00pm. In a 69' Pontiac firebird with a fresh & cammed 350HO. Not alot of power ( maybe 360 hp) but with a 3200 stall converter and Comp 270H cam it's a fun car and it's been problem free for the last two years so I can say the product did what I needed it to do. Will it last in a 4spd car or hot 400? Can't say but for me it gets a thumbs up.The rear is the better GM 10 bolt with the bearing retainers like the mopars. The Buick,Olds, Pontiac deal is Not a C clip rear. A bit beefier.

No matter what you can get a bad locker from every manufacturer. Any product that is mass produced has defects, the truck is to not let any of them get through quality control. I’ve worked in this type of environment and was in QC and a containment was a nightmare. Find a bad part, find what machine it came off of then find the first and last bad part along with every one in between. Talk about a nightmare, really sucks when some of them already hit the road. This all comes down to the competence of the QC employee doing the containment if he catches it at all. Even the best of the best have a bad egg here and there. Take a good look at everyone you work with on your next shift. Lol you will be able to easily identify why shit like this happens. I’m a CNC machinist for a company that builds actuators so see this type of thing daily.

From the guy who made the video with the power tracks lock right locker I had to buy a shim kit to get it in spec with the torqmasters aussie locker I put my stock shims back in installed outer axle gears checked spacing was a little to the tight side but we'll within spec then pulled the pin and installed the drive gears and springs then checked the clearence between the drive gears it was spot on to couild not ask for a better fit

2022 now, installed these very same units on my 85 Toyota 4x4 truck back in the mid 90's, zero issues at all with em till now, front and rear, this clown either installed em wrong or has HUGE tires and not the correct gear ratio for em, - or he just simply is one of those idiots that goes wheeling until he breaks something, have personally known clowns like that in the past🙄

Richmond Gear is a joke. My powertrax failed because of poor heat-treatment/quality of the steel and all the teeth wore off at the edge making it slip in straight aways, etc. Just a few weeks outside two year warranty period once I removed it and refuse to replace the part. Richmond Gear doesn't stand buy the products. They don't have their QC together. I have since learned of many people who go through these things like wiper blades. It's certainly not worth the cost of the part, which is substansial, let along the hassle of the install. They are not nearly as simple as they claim. For my ford 8.8 it required removing both the half shafts. HUGE JOB for little pay off for a short time.

It isnt any more work than changing an axle seal on an 8.8...a common repair. Shouldnt take more than a couple hours in a dirt driveway.

There is only 1 locker in the video 2 halves make a whole that is the second one I bought. First one I broke and got sent back to powertracks for warranty then this one went back to where I bought it then I ordered an aussie locker If your watching on a phone I'd recommend taking a screen shot of the bad one and zoom in take a close look

Rob Boat geezy pete.. My axle rebuild kit with seals and bearings and gasket was $57.... Total $257 +tax shipping was free. the only thing I didnt get were the ring and pinion. Even got a crush coller. Reused the oem shims backlash was 6 thousandths. Had to spring another 30 bucks for brake shoes because i had a bad axle seal.

There is only one lockright locker in the video 2 half's make 1 locker There is 2 axel shat gears one for each side and 2 drive gears thay shouild be matching sets thay are not the 2 drive gears do not match same part number in each part

Buy a aussie locker desined by one of the people who desined the lock right he went on his own and redesigned with less flaws/week points iv ran both now and can say the aussie locker made 100% in the usa has alot less quirks

Rob Boat I just spent over a month trying to get my aussie locker to work in my dana 30 but due to manufacturing flaws it bound up constantly. Installed a powertrax and it performed flawlessly. Aussie did admit fault and issued a full refund but the moral of the story is that no matter what you will get bad units from any company on a mass produced item
