YEAH!!! So glad, I know it is fast but the idea is more about sharing what blending can do. You can get the template and colour list in the link found in the description box. So glad you gifted yourself the coloured pencils, they are a REMARKABLE medium. Cheers and let me know how the drawing goes.

Gorgeous! I actually prefer to blend with alcohol or a blending solution if you just want to pay more. This blending fills in the white voids without so much color buildup that the color ends up "shiny". Fewer layers, blended with alcohol, for the same (or better) effect. Try it!
@Drawingwithcolour
@Drawingwithcolour 9 ай бұрын
Hi and many thanks for your comment. Alcohol is great for blending but is not guaranteed to be archival, so I do not use it in my drawing, the blending ability is great though. If I do use a liquid I use a guaranteed archival product such as gamsol or in this video Zest-It which I did use at the end of the video. As i explained in the video I only use a solvent at certain stages, towards the end, so i used the Finesse blending marker and the liquid. For me and my work, drawing many layers is an important part of good colored pencil drawing, it is richer, more detailed and creates remarkable depth, so for me that is far more important than removing the tooth of the paper immediately. Thank you for sharing and Happy drawing, Cheers

This was my third video that I watched of yours, in around an hours time frame. A mutual colorist (that I “took under my wing” several years ago) told me about you. You are a lady after my own heart when it comes to colored pencils. “Layer, layer and layer some more”, how often I have said this to so many colorists over the last several years, new ones as well as some who may have 2-3 years behind them. I am SLOWLY working on being able to do my own art. Been adding to images that are already made for us to color by actual artists. Adding backgrounds, adding textures, etc., to make them look as realistic as I can even now, although I still have a ways to go. My ultimate goal is to be a hyper realistic colorist. The subject of layering is an interesting one in the world of adult coloring. Some love layering and you know which do because of the quality of their work. Others hate layering and again, the results speak for themselves. I have had individuals ask me how I get the results I do and when I respond “many layers, with many different colors”, the response is always a “mixed bag”. I remember one time the subject came up and I had many tell me, “this is coloring images in a book or from a PDF/digital image. It’s suppose to be fun. You only need 3-5 layers max. The kind of layering you’re talking about should be left to the professionals who sell their work!” My response to them was, “layering is fun, at least for me it is and the amount of layering one does is a personal choice, dependent upon the results one wants. If you don’t want to layer like that, that is your business, but it is also my business if I want to do many many layers. That there are is no such thing as “coloring police””. That usually shut them up and still does when I say it. Another response I that I got was, “That is beautiful, but I guess I am going to have to be satisfied with the results that I am currently getting, because there is no way that I could do that much layering!” Then, I went on to show two different images to bring home the point. One was where I colored a fence in an image using only about 5-6 layers and possibly close to that many colors. Then I showed them an image with a couple of apple barrels. Those barrels had over 25 layers, using around 18 or more colors. Several got the point immediately. I had a couple comments to the effect of, “it’s like you can see into the wood!” Those ones that got the point of my two different images, told me that they would definitely work on adding more layers, to build more depth. Love trying to help others improve, if I can and I love the process of improvement for myself. I am in my 7th year of using pencils. Unfortunately, I’ve had to take an unwanted break, this past year due to serious injuries, so lost some time. I am hoping to get back to it very soon. My favorite sharpeners are also an M&R and KUM. (Oh..and my favorite pencils are Prismas and Polychromos ☺️) I think I am going to enjoy viewing your videos! 💕

Hi and thank you for the kind words. I use either a tracing paper by Carson, or glassine. You can get any of them in most art stores. A quick note, if you do buy glassine online, make sure it is glassine and not tissue paper. I have heard recently that people are being sold a cheap tissue paper knockoff. Cheers

Of coure and thanks for the comment. KUM, best to stay away from any of the long points, their double hole magnesium is a great all around sharpener. If you can, get replacement blades for it as well. Change blades everytime they pull a bit on the wood or break the point. Happy drawing. Cheers

Your work is beautiful! I’m a new subscriber! I had a question,I have always wanted to start using Stonehedge paper,but not sure if I’ll like it,I like to work on thick paper,like cardstock,I feel it’s more resistant. Is Stonehedge paper thick? Also,I like working on toned tan paper,do you know if Stonehedge has toned paper or Kraft paper?
@Drawingwithcolour
@Drawingwithcolour 9 ай бұрын
Hi and thanks for your comment. Stonehenge White is for sure NOT the thickest paper out there with only a 250GSM/90 lbs. Strathmore mixed media is 300GSM/184 pounds. Yes you can get Stonehenge in different colours, but I only know that you can get different colours in individual sheets, not sure if it comes in a pad. My favourite thick cardstock drawing paper is Rising Museum Board, 100% cotton, in different various ply thicknesses, i like the 4 ply, quite thick but excellent for drawing on. Just a quick note on Stonehenge White, it is a very robust paper and excellent for taking multiple layers. Cheers

Which orderless mineral spirit? I'm in US and can't find Zest It anywhere, even large art supply online. Jackson's shows they don't even have available. I don't have a good ventilated area to work in so I haven't purchased those at the craft store. Advice?
@Drawingwithcolour
@Drawingwithcolour 23 күн бұрын
Hi, Any OMS will work, OMS, Odorless Mineral Spirits is an odorless product found in art stores, Gamblin, Mona Lisa are 2 brand names. You only need a tiny bottle as it goes a long way. cheers
@Drawingwithcolour
@Drawingwithcolour 23 күн бұрын
You can also purchase a blending marker, there are specific blending markers for coloured pencil blending. The OMS is odorless as long as the room is not closet sized, and you keep the door open you should be fine. Dip brush, close lid, if you feel it affecting you. J
