I'm getting ready to swap a VW BRM 1.9 into my YJ. Going to be a massive job but at least there are a lot of youtube videos and facebook groups to help out.

just started video. listening to engine. pretty sure NOT an MB 617.. hmmmm.... Kubota? will watch more to see.
I don't have exact figures on the swap. BUT.....I got an extremely good deal on the diesel and it saved me a ton of money. On average, from what I've seen online, the typical diesel swap (TDI, Mercedes, etc) starts about $5k .....

The problem with custom engine swaps is there is no way to give someone a concrete number. He fabricated many parts himself that some people would have to have made because they simply don't have the tools or skills. Buying an engine could be a few hundred to several thousands depending on what engine, condition of the engine, and where you are located. Then there is all the little nick pick parts that you don't know you need until the issue arises.

@Poweraddicts perfectly said......I did 99% of the work myself. Whether it was fabrication, welding, machining, etc..... had I hired out the majority of the work, it would've cost a war pension.
