i think if kevin didnt make a fuss about gideon injury.. and make faces everytime gideon make mistakes, they are still on par with others. But, the opposite happen.. we can see how gideon becoming not confident about himself playing.. and eventually retire. As for kevin too bad, such a rare talent. No partner suit him best other than gideon.
