pls also check ‘liham’, another ballad in the EP. its as good, yet so different. its a song for an inspiration, how life became so much better because of that someone. heartwarming but still tear jerking. its kinda like a wedding song, yet still very universal like ilaw & mapa ;) & they performed it live in wishbus US

Thanks for explaining the nitty gritty part of the song. It's really a cry of desperation. Apparently, a lot of Filipinos still doesn't recognize their talents until now. That's why we really appreciate foreigners who can see their truest potentials as a pop artists. Thank you so much for supporting our Mahalima. This RV is great! Keep it coming. 💙🙏

Like what Pablo said, he prefers the listeners' interpretation over his own, that means the song connected to the person. For me Ilaw's lyrics hit home on my struggles as the eldest and breadwinner of the family, where I suppressed my own identity and dreams to be able to support theirs. Yes, I've done my part but at the cost of losing focus on myself til I'm all exhausted. I can't complain because what's the use, at the end of the day I'm still doing it anyway. It's one aspect of my life that was securely swept under the rug but when I heard this song, all floodgates opened.

this is how i took it too (on my 2nd listen) even though I am nowhere near that situation, but my [ex]boyfriend as he is the eldest, a breadwinner. Hugs with consent, kaps!

i feel that sometimes you need to prioritize yourself too. It is okay to be selfish in pursuit of your dreams and your true self. I hate it when parents make their kids feel that they are their retirement plan, that that is the only reason to have a child. how selfish of these parents. they should never have kids if only to impose on them such responsibility. If one decides to have kids, it's the parents responsibility to look after them, to teach them to become productive member of society. at the same time the parents should prepare and save for their retirement and allow their children to really discover their full potential without any limitations. Usually empowered kids grew to up to be successful adults with careers they love. Then these kids will be in better position to help their family but it should not be an obligation. That is my story. And I am so happy that my parents allowed me to be the person I want to be without being held back by responsibility. Now, I am happy to say I have a great career that pays well which now allows me to spoil my family. It is really ok to prioritize yourself.

I have always been curious what Pablo's state of mind was like when he wrote this. We can all have our own interpretations of this song based on our own experiences -- and Pablo says he actually appreciates it when we do. But I still would really like to know what he, in particular, as the composer, meant. He gives hints of it during interviews, but of course I respect that he can't share everything to the public. He would be a really interesting friend to have.

ILAW is one of the song that i listen makes me emotional and cry...i keep my awareness to always reach out love they may suffer from loneliness or depression. Doesn't mean you see them smile or laugh on post in social media they are happy but inside they are not.

Like everyone else, each of us experience struggles in life and SB19 aren't spared of it.. Depression hits them too, especially during their early days of their career..They feel that they're never enough because some Filipinos don't support them..Its hurt their feelings , it's hard to proved themselves to people who doubt their music ..ILAW, is LIGHT in english is a song for all, that even in your own country you are not welcome..The "limelight " sometimes is deceiving as FAME &GLORY is also a lonely state..We can see them smile and happy but deep inside there's a lot playing inside their mind.. SB19 help us to realize that our struggles is their struggle too.👍💞🥺😢✌️😘🎵🎶🎵

So true! Pablo talked about falling into his dark moments and "doing unspeakable things" (KwentoJuan, ???); Stell had always struggled about self-doubt, saying that his biggest enemy is himself (OZONE concert clip, Parcinq interview); Josh also thinking to himself that maybe he's just unfortunate in life (ToniTalks) and that he's incapable of things that other people can (OZONE clip). In another interview, the members talked about their struggles in pursuing their dreams: their former management asking them to perform songs in Korean and Chinese, them having to learn these songs through KZbin, crying over it because of how difficult it was to learn 6-8 Chinese songs in one week, and them questioning themselves if what they were doing was still right.

Thank you for this RV❤. We all resonate to this differently, no wrong interpretation in my opinion❤. This song however is so powerful, mental health is a difficult topic to discuss. The line where they say, pause for a moment, even for just a week. It resonated to me so hard as a breadwinner of our family. I appear strong and felt like I am unable to say I am tired because of that responsibilities. But what I missed is that my my family are just waiting for me to talk to them and let them know my own struggle, to keep that door open, and not be afraid to ask for help.....once I started talking to my family, I still have the responsibility but now I share my own burden with them, I don’t feel alone. SB19 reminds us that it’s ok to have a break from whatever it is we needed break from. To look out for our family and friends and check in once in a while, the door is open. I thank them for their music 💙💙💙💙💙

Mr. Zack....this is a beautiful reading of ILAW. You really have that GIFT of giving life....of giving meaning to what ILAW is to SB19 as artists; to what ILAW is to each and everyone... amidst the context and reality of how blinding, tiring, unforgiving ILAW or the LIGHT is other than its obvious binary opposite that suggests the positive...the good in being directly or under the light! Again, kudos!🎉❤

This song is very relatable especially for those who struggling/battling with depression & even introverted people. This is my top fave among their Pagtatag EP & one of the main reason why i insisted to watch them live (concert) just to hear this song despite being prohibited to go to this kind of event since i have anxiety/panic disorder. Hearing this song live doesn't just made everyone felt emotional but at the same time felt goosebumps with their emotional vocals. PS. You notice Josh's part too. There's some music producer reactors noticed that part too & don't know if it's intentional or not.

Also they found it restricting and suffocating with their previous management, being in the spotlight but finding it at times too much,they had to suppress many of their artistic dreams to conform to what others saw as the right path, losing themselves wondering if that’s the price they have to pay to do what they’ve dreamt of ,making others think they were happy but having unspeakable struggles that even when they try to put their point across it goes unheard. Ilaw is powerful and their last song on the ep Freedom is the antidote Thanks for your reaction,enjoy listening to your analysis
@Sygmafied Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Ilaw is the story that preludes Freedom. I think the part where their self-identity was in question was when they were labelled as k-pop wannabes, being trained & managed under a K managenent and all. I can imagine how much of their self-expression was suppressed back then because look at how Pagtatag EP is now under their own management.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite song of SB19. Actually MAPA and Ilaw hit hard. Everytime I listen to this song "Ilaw" it always makes me so emotional. I understand the SB19 take on the song just exactly how you analyze. Tho, yours is really dope. You're kind of very observant. You even analyze the Music Video wich is you always do. However, personally, I requested this song and wanted to know what's your take on it just to know if you can also feel that this song is more than just the "spotlight" they were focusing. But then I realized that it depends on the person on how he can relate it to his own struggle in life. Thank you always for showing support to our MAHALIMA (Beloved 5) 🙏❤️ you're one of a kind ... I won't call you a reactor 😂✌️ ... Cause you're way much different and in a better way.

Your enterpretation is rt. Because they have more talents to offer but sort of suppressed due to the one who manage them so whatever they are instructed to do they have to.follow
@gardoisarandueno Жыл бұрын
Actually Mr. Reactor, the song definitely refers to their management company before, they don't have the liberty following their own wants of music because the company had the power deciding what songs they want to release...that's why they managed their own ...the songs itself shouldn't be interpreted word for word....if I may, you better dig and have your own research to them, from there you can have a true and meaningful reaction to SB19... but again, thank you for spending time reacting to SB19...
