Frankly, I'd take that as evidence that the beast is slowly backing away from him. Turns out he's not going out to fight it, he's just politely (but firmly) escorting it back to the border.

I replied this almost a year ago, but some glitch kept it from appearing. I think, based on the animated fight right before this clip, it's less that the beast is far away and more that it doesn't want to catch those hands and it's constantly backing away. Chongyue isn't walking out to fight it; he's just very slowly escorting it back to the border.
