They're not speaking any alien language or channeling anything (other than intuiting the issues needing addressed, and addressing them, which is the point). Some might be recalling bits of language spoken in previous lives but speaking "in tongues" is just a way for the subconscious to spew an intention unencumbered by language. It's like scatting in jazz, noodling on guitar, trancing out, or free form dancing. That's why it is legitimately powerful.
