I see the common roots with shotokan here. Except that kata is a tad harder. Thanks for sharing! Thanks to Sensei to take the time for those videos.

As a 40 years old man, is it too late for me to learn karate? I really keen on learning kata...not the fighting though...
@pgong2 жыл бұрын
Not too late at all. Train according to your ability and endurance now and you'll become stronger and more limber in time with steady training. Just understand that our physical potential wanes as we age so keep your expectations in order. We can't move, at 40+, like we would be able to at 25.

We had a 70yo starting at our dojo. I re-started my journey at 55yo after a 15 year break. Manny Pacquio was still boxing after 40yo. 40 is the new 30s. If the mind is willing the body will follow.

Pin-an is a form created by Ankō Itosu to make karate a part of school sports. Goju-ryu's Chojun Miyagi originally participated in this initiative, but he withdrew midway due to questions raised by the educational community, such as ``Sanchin and the like can put pressure on the chest,'' and Naha-ryu decided to take part in this initiative. element has completely disappeared. Therefore, there is no pin an in Goju-ryu (and the Hakutsuru-ken lineage such as Uechi-ryu). Also, for educational purposes, dangerous techniques such as tsukute (eye thrust), metal attacks, and joint techniques were intentionally omitted.

Heian is the Japanese pronunciation and Pinan the Okinawan pronunciation of the same Japanese signs. So it’s written the same in katakana. It’s the same name / katas, just different ways of pronouncing the name. Shōtōkan is a mainland Japanese style.Shōrin-ryū is Okinawan. Shōtōkans founder also decided to switch the order he taught Pinan Shodan and Pinan Nidan. As he thought it was easier to teach beginners Pinan nidan. Pinan Shodan roughly means ‘first kata of the Pinan series’ and Pinan Nidan ‘second kata of the pinan series’. So if you switch the order it make sense to switch the names. So the ‘first kata of the Heian / Pinan’ series actually was the first kata taught to a student. And so it became that Heian Shodan = Pinan Nidan And Heian nidan = Pinan Shodan And they are all the same katas. Most other styles calls them Pinan. Only shōtōkan and styles decedent from shōtōkan call them Heian. Shōtōkans founder did not change the order for any of the remaining pinan katas. So Pinan / Heian katas, Sandan, Yondan, Godan are all the same.

Shotokan renamed Pinan Shodan into Heian Nidan
@dipzno12 ай бұрын
Then it went to kyukushin and was called pinan although it differs a little from this and from shotokan
