My son bought one and loves the stick mate 160i . I even went a step further I installed a tig torch to the Hobart stick mate 160i and it works great! Don’t let them tell you it’s not possible when I proved to my so you can.

Well I have the Hobart ez 125 flux core 120 volt little welder and I really like that it works really good it’s one of the older ones flux core only and it has automatic settings match up the steel thickness and gauge and it automatically sets the wire speed and heat for you,,,couldn’t be easier,,, it works great,,, maybe I’ll consider this new little stick welder,,, I’ve never stick welded before.

After having this unit for awhile now I only wish that the amperage control was more intricate in what amps you were actually on instead of having to guess from the in-betweens that's about as good as having tapped even though it is an infinite adjustment but if you need to be somewhere other than where it's said what is an actual measurement you're guessing

Jumping in here to answer a few questions posted. These are replacing the old Stickmate LX models. The 160 can weld up to 1/8” material on 120 input and up to 3/8” material on 240 input. The amperage control on the new Stickmate 160i and 210i are electronic, so there is infinite control from minimum to maximum settings. Very accurate amp control as the output of the unit is electronically controlled so what you set is what you get.

Not sure why they give material thickness for stick welders. You can weld any thickness of material with enough passes of 1/8 7018. Just duty cycle would be an obstacle is all.

The 210I seemed to be unavailable in canada, so I proudly went for the160I , recent buy, Am very pleased for the money spend, lightweight , trusty and easy to use. However, my only 3 dislikes are... 1- How comes it`s not sold in a plastic chest for better storing? 2- 160 amps dc output.. ? Very well but why not 225 dc welding amps for this price? 3- I have to change the too small ground clamp and it will be the third electrode holder on this machine for the next weekend, how comes?

That old Ac welder is Dc also, look at the controls, sounds like marketing just made this story up. Anyway I bought one, the Chinese were really cutting into the business so fight fire with fire and have them build you some so you can compete. The real reason I bought is because I would rather pay a little extra to have and American name on my piece oc cbineseium.
