Being a lefty myself good to see some coaching from a lefty. Too many lessons for right handed that we lefties have to turn around.

Great stuff Jeff! And what I like very much about you and your video instruction: when you add to your statements that "benefit of a doubt" meaning you point out that even though you believe what you say is correct, there might be exceptions and it's not necessary set in stone. That's humble and honest and authentic and that 's rare in people that have a statute of profesional coaches. top class man ! :)

Jeff, Thanks. I'm a lefty and have been subscribed for a few weeks. I got a new stick and bought it out today. At the end of our session I asked to hit a few serves. My partner was convinced my new racquet was making my serve pop. I did not refer him to your site.

Great stuff. I was taught a single stance but the stance really makes a difference for me ...especially for the kick. As you noted in another video Federer moves his sometimes when serving just in the beginning of the motion- so he's actually changing his stance. I always thought it was just a habit, but I think your right because he doesn't do it all the time.

Excellent lesson. My couch suggested the same, as you mentioned today, when I was trying from Ad side, as my serve was going out on the side lines... now I know why my coach was suggesting it and I even tried your lesson on how to handle fast balls, it really work. highly appreciated for your videos, your doing a great work

I practice that exact foot placement strategy as a righty. I can say from experience that it helps achieve the kick and slice movements as well as a repeatable serve routine.

John McEnroe was also a left-handed player - his serve was somewhat unorthodox yet very effective in his era against his peer group of world professionals. The sideways stance he adopted and felt comfortable with was apparently because of a back problem.

Great lesson. Answers a lot of questions. Need to study. QUESTION: Is there a stance, or technique, that will deliver power and spin while saving one's lower back? Asking for an old fart friend.

Great advice for the parallel stance for the adv side! I'd actually now have a much better ( & more confident!) serve at the adv side than the deuce side ....LOL!

What you’re saying is that the angle between the feet (pointing) remains the same, you are just switching which foot is parallel/angled to the baseline.
@TennisEvolution4 жыл бұрын
Correct, that minor adjustment can make a big difference. Thanks for watching.
@evanc.23824 жыл бұрын
It is the same as the approach in volleyball. Whoever has played volleyball knows that to get ready to spike, one attacks the net on different angle. As lefty one would go straight to net on left side, and from out of court toward net on right side. Angles apply similar to the stance for the tennis serve. (I imagine sometimes that the ad side is still the deuce side by 'flipping' the court in my mind...lol.)

Jeff, do you offer some kind of short program where I could send you videos of my serve so that you can identify which parts might be going wrong and worth working on?

Hi Martin, thanks for your comment. Please send us an email at support@tennisevolution. We will provide more details on how we can help you transform your serve.

As a left-handed server if you took a step back (sideways) with your right foot and onto the toes of the foot so that you can shift your weight ~90% to the back foot (left foot) you would open your hips for a powerful rotation as you push off the back foot and drive the front foot into the court. A simple adjustment to your platform stance. For the right-handed server the feet would obviously be reversed.

Don R. Mueller, Ph.D. Can you please make a video to show us how it works?

@@Osnosis No, Mr. Federer (like the rest of the platform servers) does not move his front foot back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3y7pYmHo9abeJY BTW: this simple bit of physics can't be learned via osmosis Mr./Mrs./Ms. Osnosis. So learn it from someone who does know and that would be me: www.nytimes.com/2018/05/11/sports/tennis/don-mueller-rackets.html

It depends Adam. Both can work for a 2nd serve.

The front foot is pointed in the slice and the flat serve, right? Also It should be more parallel to the baseline in kick serve?

If you have a different stance for the wide serve and the T serve, then won't your opponents know where the serve is coming?

They might, but if you hit it well enough , it won't matter.

How come you(adavanced player) are able to play / or plays all the time with babolat pure drive ? To me babolat is great for beginner & intermediate players and for advanced players its kinda detrimental to their style/skill.
