Brisbane storms were pretty wild! A tornado momentarily passed along the Brisbane River
@cyclonesoz16 сағат бұрын
Didn't hear about that tornado but that sure was a storm! will check some news reports now
@item693115 сағат бұрын
News reports called it a gustnado because apparently its rotation was anticyclonic, but tornadoes can be anticyclonic too. Whatever it was it was pretty spectacular.

@@cyclonesoz a water spout on the bris river some calling it a gustando.

Geomagnetic storm The current was going up instead of down. Using the right hand method to check the flow of charge. My missus picked up the anti rotation. Proud of my woman 😀

tornado reported in brisbane was a gustnado but above it the supercell, right above the CBD was wrapping up and tightening and a brief funnel was there. was rotating basically all the way into Brisbane also. not surprised if tornadoes happened before brisbane, hook and rotation couplet was insane at times
@item69314 сағат бұрын
>not surprised if tornadoes happened before brisbane, If you look up Brisbane tornado 1973 you can see some grainy old vids of one - its path was over 50 km long which is pretty amazing. Wikipedia says it was Australia's most destructive tornado fwiw.

The storm that tore through Brisbane yesterday. A light breeze and light sprinkle of rain. No hail, no damage on the south side of Brisbane

Hi Josh, Windy is saying there might be a thunderstorm next Sunday for the Perth area. Do you think we might see some action?
@cyclonesoz15 сағат бұрын
Possible, but I wouldn't get excited for it yet

@@cyclonesozok, thanks for the reply. Can’t wait for your next weather report 🤙

That's waaaaayyyyyyy too far ahead to get excited, let alone being accurate for any model. I'd keep a eye on it, but bare in mind it could be a dud of a day...

Hey, are you expecting any severe storms for the central coast of new south wales as the unstable air mass tends to head more south next week?
@Bobby1WYT12 сағат бұрын

Does air with higher J/kg burn better?
@cyclonesoz16 сағат бұрын
Air doesn't burn, the j/kg is just a basic description of how unstable the airmass is, if you like.
@item693115 сағат бұрын
J/kg makes me think that you are referring to "CAPE". Basically CAPE is used as a measure of the potential or driving force for a thunderstorm to form, if it can break a cap like a temperature inversion. I look at it like a chimney: if a surface air mass can break a cap, then a chimney to upper air masses is created, and air moving up through the chimney will be faster and more powerful with increasing CAPE values, so more powerful storms. Tornado alley in the U.S. can get absolutely insane CAPE values (though that's not the only reason they get so many powerful tornadoes there).
