There is NO WAY that cylinder is steam tight
@shropshirehistory908 Жыл бұрын
@@gowdsake7103it’s not you can see it’s exhausting steam out the end of it..the small piston is pressure in…so I’m guessing as I’m no engineer that one piston runs the other…one pushes one pulls..the long one also exhausts the steam as well as having just enough pressure to push it back over on the return for the other to pull…and repeats cycle…I could be wrong.

@briannemec921411 ай бұрын
@@shropshirehistory908 When the holes line up in the small cylinder ,valve, the steam goes to the large cylinder and pushes the flywheel. As the flywheel turns the small rod is moved and the hole is blocked. The steam cannot flow to the large cylinder. The other side of the small rod is ground so the steam from the large cylinder is not trapped, but can flow out of the large cylinder. This ground spot can be seen at 12:50, is very quick. The large cylinder has one purpose , to push the wheel. The valve does two things 1. allow steam to flow and stop the steam flow and 2. allow the large cylinder to empty out the used steam. hope that helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/embcnXaupZuiraM

EXCELLENT video. Honestly shows what would go into actually building a simple little engine -- about as simple as they come, but still lots of work! There are tons of fake videos with people using shock absorbers and pressure cookers, and they're all fake. My only critique is that it would have been nice to see you fabricate the connecting rod and strap as well as the steam lines. For what it's worth, you never want the fire licking up around the sides of your pressure vessel. There's no water there, typically, so you'll just be heating the shell with no gain to your steaming and weaken the vessel -- a great way to have it fail under pressure! Nice job!

And one last question ...imm not a matha matician by no means but about how much horse power do you think this steam engine you built puts out?just thinking this would be the ultimate backup power source for a dc generator or a a/c generator. for a backup emergency plan in case of a disaster ,,or a wwcrisis .. never know what these little ideas can be in time of need.ty for your time in doing these things . this generation needs more pepole like you who are taught to use what they have on hand and not whats they have to buy ...like the brain..lo!
