"Black Raven" is a folk revision of the poem-song of the non-commissioned officer of the Nevsky Infantry Regiment Nikolai Verevkin "Under the Green Wet", first published in 1837 in the journal "Library for Reading". The poem "went to the people" and existed as a song in various ways. Belongs to the genre of cruel romances. The song is considered to be Cossack and tells the story of a dying Cossack who asks the raven to tell his relatives about his death. General Peter Krasnov considered it a song of the Don Cossacks during the Caucasian War of 1817-1864. The plot is very sad, riddled with longing and even mysticism. Two main characters: a man and a bird. Both images, the first is a warrior, the second is a raven. A wounded man lies on the battlefield and watches a black forerunner of death circling above him in the sky. The words of the first verse show that the guy still does not believe that his last minutes are coming. All narration is conducted in the first person and belongs to the hero. He promises a predator that he will not become his prey, although he is greatly wounded. However, the raven feels a near demise, spreading its claws. The dying man asks the raven to fly to his homeland and tell his mother that he died in the battle for his land. He also wants to hand over the bloodied scarf to his bride, who gave it to him. With this gesture, it would be like to return freedom to her bride and free her from the promise to wait for him. He further explains the reason. He wants the raven to say that he has found another bride and will soon marry her. In this case, it means death (death is now his bride), which is about to take possession of him. With this bride they were accompanied by a sharp saber of the enemy, And mother earth will crown them. And the bayonet of a soldier will be a friend at this wedding with death. In the last verse, the warrior realizes that death overtakes him and tells the crow about it. Да, Вы правы. Смысл то конечно можно перевести и конечно все поймут метафоричность текста. Но некоторые обороты речи и произношение слов, поймёт только носитель языка. А именно это придаёт песне, неповторимый дух.

I think this was one of the first songs from Russia, when i started to learn this language. Of course there was Конь somewhere at first but, all those reaction videos make me remind how i got banished from those melodramatic and deeply meaningful, powered songs. Stay there and listen... and not know any word... but feeling how it gets into my heart... slowly start to internalise more and more, every time just a little deeper and u start understand more... and it finally get more beauty and just more sad... but not in a bad way... much more in a truly understanding of serious heart curing and then you can finally Just barely imagine how wonderful and deep touched the peoples get there, who grow up with this Songs. Песня конечно изначально не про казака и не народная, а написана на стихи белогвардейского офицера Веревкина. Но это не важно... Важно, что она берет за душу. Это жанр очень древний. Называется "Песнь умирающего воина". Был популярен в Византии у акритов, в Новое время у клефтов. Это песня-плач. Ворон - это священник в чёрной рясе(одежде), он идёт по полю битвы где лежат воины. Умирающий воин, который лежит под кустом ракиты говорит священику чтобы он передал кольцо его жене, и сказал ей что он женился на другой (смерти) другими словами отпускает её, что стрела их венчала. Без этих слов женщина не имела права выйти снова замуж.

The song Under the Willow is of the western part of Russia. Cossaks of Russia usually lived on the outskirts of the country and were village warriors who first experienced attacks from the west. Если переведёшь с русского, то сможешь понять настоящий смысл этой песни. Чёрный Ворон это не птица. Это Волхв(языческий священник работающий со стихиями природы, как шаман). Он ходил в походы на войну с войском Русичей, которые были только оборонительными. Этот священник перед началом битвы договаривался со смертью о цене победы, сколько воинов она заберёт. После битвы он ходил по полю боя и принимал последнюю волю умирающих солдат. Если воин не успевал передать последнюю волю, умирал раньше, то его невеста или жена не могли выйти замуж повторно и так и оставались его женой до конца своей жизни. И ещё этот Волхв помогал душам погибших воинов перейти в другое измерение с честью. Этот квартет очень правильно передал энергетику этой сакральной песни,поэтому и мурашки на теле. Существует ещё, более развёрнутая песня про Чёрного Ворона.

Oh thanks a bunch, I was really looking forward for this reaction and you're the first guy who did it! The guy voice being low was intentional, don't worry. He was there to give more color (a tember, medium-to-high voice for guys, i wish he inserted it more than he did) and you could really sense it at the end, he was actually having a hard time not derailing attention from the girls and believe it or not he's a foreigner who can barely speak russian :D
