These external brush motors can easily be timing adjusted and even reversed just by loosening the back screws and turning the end-bell.

My Chinese 5 slots all arrived with 0 timing so could be ran in either direction. The 13t I used (Yeah Racing) was a bit too tame for me but with some timing added it perked up quite a bit more. I seen that Surpass Hobby are just releasing 550 versions of the 5 slot. Rebuildible and cheap as well so might be interesting to see how they compare to the new lower priced Holmes 5 slots

hardcoretam gotcha. I should be getting quite a few of the new Holmes motors in any day so you’ll see them in various trucks including the new Capra

@@johnbasterson7938 of you mean the super expensive Holmes 5 slots then of course they won't compare. But Holmes has released some new budget 5 slots so it will be interesting to how they compare to these as price is similar

You can get a 100% drag brake in a 1060,by removing the jumper that covers F/B/R selection.

The motor was with some advence in time or was at zero degrees ? if ti was at 0° , makes not difference if was in forward or reverse rotation.. performance will be the same in both direction. If threre were any advance , then this will make a difference in performance related to motor rotation direction.

Gustavo Royo Ribeiro correct. I ran the motor out of the truck a day or so after the recording and there was a difference in rpm so there is some timing on it.

I'd set the timing at zero. Brushes will last longer and you'll get more speed and torque. Obviously it's not Holmes quality in the windings and magnets(hence the lack of drag brake but that's also the ESC)...but then it's not near as costly.

Tom Lucas if I were to legit try to make this the motor to stay in the trx4 I simply wouldn’t. Brushed motors for me will always be Holmes stuff without a doubt. But I wanted to see how this would do.

Is normal rotation clockwise and reverse rotation anti clockwise? Trying to work out which way to mount a gearbox for what should be a normal rotation motor. I've got a surpass hobby 550 crawler 5 slot 12T. Should that be run clockwise?? Cheers

D19 K yeah, Holmes Hobbies makes some very nice motors and you should be seeing them on the channel as soon as I can get them.
