A few years back I bought 2 jamdani sarees from a reputed shop in Salt Lake. At that time they sold it to me saying those were pure handloom product they vouch for it etc etc. I paid handsome price. Now, after watching your videos I realised those were nothing but powerloom products. I cannot go back to that shop because they are now non existent in SL. Thank you for enlightenment.

I am a handloom saree collector. I was once fooled by a shop in Kolkata. Then I learnt in detail about many Indian weaves and realized that the Jamdani saree I had bought was a fake. Later, the knowledge helped me buy a true handloom Jamdani. Now before buying any particular weave, I do thorough research regarding the process and only then buy. That too either directly from the weaver or from a shop with at least decadea of reputation.
