You have done so much to promote Hastings that my son and I have now registered for the CON POWER tournament. Your game against Bareev was really excellent. You intuitively made exactly the right decision to attack on the kingside. No GM does that nowadays unless he has prepared it beforehand with the computer. The tactical solution was really extremely difficult to find: the queen sacrifices itself for a clear line of fire for the double bishop shotgun. Great!

So a chess player called Conquest, born in Hastings, has written a book about a famous Hastings chess tourney...

No, not written by Stuart - but he wrote the foreword, and hopefully it will generate interest in the tournament.

If anyone wants to find out more about Albin Planinc - the tragic human story as well as his games - I would recommend the book Forgotten Genius: The Life and Games of GM Albin Planinc, by Mohr and Mikhalchishin.

16:25 Ding would normally draw this 99 times out of a 100 against anyone. Giving the pawn away with a4 must jave encouraged Gukesh tremendously.

I'm pretty sure that the big TV screens used at the British Championships DO show the move number, wrong though that might seem in a time scramble.

In the English why does Black exchange off the dark-squared bishop for the knight on c3 in the opening? I don't get it. Giving up bishop for knight.
