The company known for Transformers, managed to fumble the most straightforward transforming Megazords. At this point I'm not even mad or disappointed, I'm tired. With this release I'm sticking to retro Zord collecting and Sentai imports.

My ZAP Astro has the same problem. The clip where the arm clips into in Megaship mode was broken right out of the box. I literally pulled it out of the bag and there was rattling sound inside. Delta is a necessary addition. It's supposed to be armor as well as I like to consider it about giving it more firepower. The only restriction it would put on the megazord would be no ankle articulation. Not sure how the upper body attaches but it would be nice to have it.

I think the breaking clips are less of a QC issue and design flaw and more of a poor choice of plastic. It looks like the clips can handle being the base plastic of the figure, but not at all as clips. They really should have play-tested the durability of those clips and see what type of plastic could work best for them more.

For me I prefer the larger size and honestly their little changes to the sculpt, I'd never notice. I probably prefer it . To me it's the use of clips. They shouldn't be plastic on a figure at this cost. A more straight forward pressure peg system should be used(again metal because plastic easily snaps on the surface like Zap Dragonzords tail). Posable hands. I'd like a set of articulated hands and one set dedicated just to holding stuff. That way if things got loose, you still have a solid set of hands.

I also only collect the zords/mecha, don’t have any ranger action figures. But the only thing I like about this thing that you noted somewhat as a negative, is the scale, I would love a jumbo size combining Megazord. I recently got my first original Megazord, a 1992 Daizyujin that I got on Mercari for a really sick deal, I have combined and disassembled that thing several times, not a SINGLE tab has broken on it, those old toys are so much damn fun! That is besides the tail tip which was already somewhat broken before I got it, but I knew that going in, and at least the toy has the excuse that it’s over 30 years old, not 2 days old.

After your live unboxing I was thinking about getting it the next pay day, but I'm kind of glad I didn't get a chance to, after hearing all the QC problems with this figure. It's really disappointing to hear that something this expensive and cool has these problems. For the amount of money you have to pay for these figures, they should be doing a much better job with QC, and that's not just a problem with Hasbro either. It's across the board that you find broken parts right out of the box, sloppy paint apps, and joints that you have to cook so they don't break when you try to move them in ways that they were designed to move. Add in rising prices, and spotty distribution, and I don't enjoy toy collecting all that much anymore. 😕

I've said it before and I'll say it again - _Hasbro doesn't care about Power Rangers_ . I wish that hasbro would get rid of the C-clips for megazords, I've thought the same thing since the ZAP Dino. Those clips inherently apply a lot of stress whenever you snap them together, and worse is that they're using the same blue plastic as the body of the ship. That plastic doesnt have as much flex as the unpaintable gray stuff. This has been a known problem since the bandai era, they're just inherently a bad design.

I feel sorry for the designers at Hasbro because I doubt they want to put out cheap product but this just isn’t working at Hasbro is it. The initial idea for Power Rangers has long since gone and Hasbro are facing huge challenges to come. Let alone Power Rangers, I can’t see Hasbro surviving in its current state. I can see further layoffs, further cost cutting and honestly while the short term for Power Rangers might be dire, I can see Hasbro selling the brand (back to perhaps Saban and Toei and Bandai) to cut their losses. The poor QC and the lukewarm sales of Power Rangers toys from Hasbro, I just don’t see it being a brand that fits into a company currently on its knees. The guy that bought Power Rangers for Hasbro is sadly gone and I don’t think anyone remains at Hasbro that has the best interests of the brand at heart in the same way they have Transformers, GI-Joe and Disney brands Marvel and Star Wars. Power Rangers would do far better to be sold off to Saban, keeping it as a niche franchise that has a solid hard core and also young fanbase. for Boom Studios to keep developing the comic series and for there to be some collaboration between Bandai and Toei to develop a new range of toys with the designers from the original Bandai line. Saban could Co-create a show with Netflix, I think an animated series that is for kids as much as it’s for adults that is in the same vein as the Boom Studios comics would be just superb but also just a return to the spirit of the original show. The idea that Power Rangers could be this billion dollar franchise has been and gone and while it might never regain its 90s status, there’s no reason it can’t be successful, it’s just in the wrong hands right now.

@DraggaRyuu Жыл бұрын
Okay, multiple hands isn't really a feature to think will hamper transformations. Poseable hands vs multiple sets has no real advantages one way or the other. Either option results in an increased parts count. The problem comes purely from the material, and these ZAP Megazords just aren't being made of material that works well for it. You can see the same issue in the Gundam Universe figure line, where the hands are just cast in a soft, rubbery plastic that tends to make it feel like you're going to shear the balljoint off when inserting it. There's a lot of fumbling on the basics in these Zords, but as someone who collects a lot of transforming figures, I can safely say the multiple hand options isn't a problem.

so things BREAKING consistently on various people's product should be acceptable?

You wouldn't be saying that if yours arrived broken. I know a site that has this on sale and I'm still unsure if to get it.

I’m skipping the Zap series, Hasbro has no love for the Power Rangers. I’ll stick to my Bandai Japan.

Same, I got dx king-ohger ohger and that robot feels more high quality than this, and the clips are designed in a way sk they don't break easily.

13:49 Same happens on the minipla version to me; I have to grab it from the very back to pull it off. There's always a noticeable seam in the front of the ship too where the feet come together. I think that's just an issue we have to accept if we want articulated Megazords; when a joint is _only_ there for transformation and _only_ moves as much as it needs to, it can be made incredibly precisely. But the more joints you add, or the more you allow existing joints to move, the less precision they will have, and the less "solid" a Zord will feel. That's not to excuse any bad design decisions or QC issue from Hasbro (as a lifelong Transformers fan, I've all but stopped buying their modern figures, their QC has been so abysmal the past few years*). But even Bandai of Japan's own articulated mecha are less solid than less articulated ones. It's just a byproduct of having more moving parts. *I just want to reiterate this. I have bought decades-old Transformers, even one with visible cracks on some joints, that have tighter joints, better rolling wheels, and feel less breakable than brand new figures bought straight from Hasbro's website. I have toys from when I was child, that I have beaten up, buried in sand, and lost parts to that still have no cracks or loose joints (ofc there are some that are more damaged too, but it's a small ratio); where every single modern figure I've bought has one issue or another. I genuinely don't understand how we let them get away with it. It seems like Power Rangers fans are less forgiving because of the sudden change from Bandai (who even at their cheapest at least tended to make very durable Zords) to Hasbro. Irrelevant, but I love the _idea_ of putting the Megazords "in scale," and having them all be different sizes, but I think they chose too large a scale. If the MMPR Megazord is already so big, and it's "canonically" one of the smallest Megazords, things are going to get ridiculous. They just _can't_ do some Megazords, and don't even get me started on Carrier/Ultrazords. On the other hand, I love that they come with little minifigures (complain all you want about their size; that's _why_ I like them. They help portray the immense scale and power of a Megazord), and those would be even smaller and less detailed if the Zords were also shrunk.
