Wow, I'm sitting in our studio with another guitarist and we play dozens of QR songs were both very impressed, your spot on and we play a lot of QR, I began playing at age 14 when I heard their first EP The Warning had just been released also. I learned so many of the basic fundamentals of playing guitar from those 2 records. Proper palm muting, ect. But I would be willing to to bet my buddy here but he won't bet me that your using a Fractal unit? I know that tone because I use Fractal AX8 for everything. My main tone is very similar I'm thinking we probably use the same amp, cab models but there's to many models and combinations that wouldn't be possible, maybe the same cabinet though because we are very similar in dialing in that Mindcrime tone, I do believe your a bit closer to it than me though. Maybe you get a chance you can settle this for us. Lol. Great video BTW, good to see someone besides us play it so spot on, this is the first video I think I've commented on so yea totally great job.
@powerslave886 жыл бұрын
Wow thanks so much to you both! Huge compliment and I very much appreciate you taking the time to comment and watch - I'm a huge QR fan and getting it right (or as close as possible) is something I feel very strongly about - the nuance is what makes them special and it's important to try and replicate it I feel! And yes, you win haha! I'm using the Friedman HBE here if I remember rightly, though I gravitate more towards the Dirty Shirley these days - probably some Marshall cab here too! Thanks again, I really appreciate it!
@axmancometh59596 жыл бұрын
I had no doupt, you know when you hear equipment that you also use, I use the British plexi with marshal 4/12 and a mesa 2/12 just to give a little more depth to the bottom with the mesa. I think my friend also knew but didn't want to admit it because he's very old school and uses his vintage Marshalls we both used for years. I'm trying to get him to make the switch to a Fractal unit it's so much easier to record and use in the studio and to do more complex Recording techniques like reamping and having so many options to create your own signature sound on our original tunes. I watched more of your videos last night their all great work, I can appreciate the work you must have put into making each one. Rock On Alex

+Jamie D Thanks Jamie, thats quite an amazing compliment to say that this has got your itch back! I'm using the Friedman HBE amp within the Axe Fx 2 coupled with a 70's Marshall Cab sim. It is the best sound I have EVER got through any amp - would love to play a real Friedman, but to be honest, the Axe FX version is blowing my mind clean off! Thanks again for watching!
@knockedandreadyoutdoors71348 жыл бұрын
Yes... Its a killer sound... I would of loved to had that back in my day... Had 2 Marshall 4x12 cabinets... That would of killed it with that sound... Plus the ole Jackson would of loved that.... Thanks for getting back with me...

No problem mate - the Friedman is essentially a modded Marshall kinda thing anyway - worth checking out!
@powerslave886 жыл бұрын
@Elipieo Absolutely amazing - it is my main live rig and my backup is the AX8 - swear by 'em. I use the Axe Fx direct to front of house but use Matrix power amps/cabs (sometimes powered FRFR, sometimes traditional NL series cabs) to provide an onstage sound (and something to give me that 'feel') when I'm not using In Ears. Sounds deadly!

So, just saw QR for my 10th time last night. 7 times with Tate. 3 with Todd. Todd was on point last night for sure. Even with a cold. So, I don't believe I had my Axe-FX last time they were in town. So, of course, now I'm wanting to put together some patches for a few albums and start re-learning how to play a bunch of stuff off Rage, Mindcrime, etc. Alex any chance you'd be willing to share your patch settings?

Thanks for watching man! That’s a good question - I’m not able to rewatch right now but it sounds like the kind of mindset I might have adopted at the time! @powerslave887 жыл бұрын
Arunas Thanks man! Not a secret and also totally not scientific haha! For these covers because the original track is in the background (therefore the original guitars) I don't double track here, just single guitar track for degarmo and single guitar track for Whip panned about 35%-40% each. Lead spots are panned less severely with harmony sections about 10-20%. Hope that helps!
