You got me with the snow scene. That really gave me a good laugh. That was exactly (well almost) what I did about a week ago here in Toronto. All like “Hey! Let go [looks out the window to see snow]....into the basement and practice hopping on and off a ledge...” On a more artistic note, the little touches to the snow scene were very nice, particularly the daisy and grass. It gave it an almost calming feel added to the “why god?” feeling of it all. Love seeing you slowly experiment and add in little flourishes like that.

Yes in ice skating it is a "T" stop. Inline thank you for urging us to refer to it as "L" stop
@gg-gn3re2 жыл бұрын
The gym floor allows you to stop easier because when it heats up (from your power slide/stop friction) it gets stickier. In 3d printing we use Polyethermide sheets that when hot turn into an almost glue to stick prints, and when cool they harden and aren't sticky at all.. like glass.
@Fany8965 жыл бұрын
It is nice to mention that is more of a L stop than a T. When I train it with the T on mind I find myself wrecklessly spiraling.

Tiago: Blade in NY points out that the powerstop - or, narrow powerslide - uses a bent knee, unlike a (wide stance) powerslide. You do this; but some of your viewers might not realize that. I suspect that you're probably right about weight distribution. Or, at least, I think more weight will be on the support leg in a powerslide, as opposed to a powerstop. Regarding falls: Blade in NY points out that skaters can fall on a powerslide, but you would fall downward from sliding out too far, I think - rather than be at risk of less stability from an abrupt stop. Blade in NY video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaaUo2iMn7x4hZY Definitely true that we can reduce speed first. That can really help in some situations. Merci beaucoup pour l'explication! - Thanks for the explanation! = D

Ouch, the snow scene is sooo relatable :'(Well where I live very rarely snows, but it hasn't stopped raining since September 😅Well I guess the bright side is I'm kinda improving the... specificity? of my skating. It's stressing af, and not nearly as fun as skating on dry floor, but you really must learn to control every little movement when on wet, if you don't want to die ':)That would be a useful tutorial now that I think about it. I know water it's bad for bearings and stuff, but any tips that help skating safely on wet floor would be very much appreciated.Anyway, great video as always, you never fail to teach something useful while putting a smile on my face. Thanks!

Bro do u have a tutorial for that spin stop with your toe lifted? That's amazing!
@roughrough235 жыл бұрын
The major difference from a powerstop and powerslide is that the powerstop has ankle inversion and is used to prevent sliding. You can see in Tiago's demo of the powerstop when he does it well he inverts his back foot for a split sec. It can be excuted in very high speeds on rough asphalt but one must have strong back foot ankle to hold that stance. In order to strengthen the ankles is to commite repetitions on rough surfaces itself, your flaws will be exposed and the body will gradually adapt and perfect it.

@tommaso_dm60165 жыл бұрын
hola tiago! i just want to share my opinion, even if i am a really bad skater compared to you. as regards the T/L stop: i realized that a grown man or somebody with some kind of skills can put his braking foot in a L position but for doing that you have to be able to control the rotational inertia with your hips/upper body. For a kid, learning how to stop... i feel that the T position is much easier...first because you have less inertia to control and second, and maybe more important for kids, because with the T you can use a progression like: 1. running with 1 foot. 2. putting the 2° foot in the T position. Instead the L is much more easy to do even if you are not really good at running with one foot...and now i get to the point... if you try to do the L pos. but you are not really stable with the running foot, the result maybe be that you will not do a 90° angle....and so if you imagine a kid trying to do that and putting his foot, for example, like at 50°..the result is that it starts rolling away from you..... so..my english is really bad but i hope i get to the point...what do you think? am i totally wrong??

pretty sure there is certain limit velocity which if exceeded makes powerstop impossible. I recon magic would be best in between stop - faster stop than powerslide, possible at all speeds(not all surfaces though?)
