"...to the father and the nun comes the beast of Gevaudan"...its pointing to the fact that the people of the area hoped to find shelter and help from the clerics of the Gevaudan area. They liked it, cause people payed all their money as a sacrifce to mother church...but on the way home, Le Béte had them for supper ;)

Very nice Song. There is also a film from 2001 about the same beast. If you're interest the name of the movie is "Brotherhood of the Wolf" but it's more like the fantasy site of this story.
