Matt Wright was outstanding. His counters, resets, and lobs really made the difference in this one.

Collin’s resetting is next to none in PPA. However when facing aggressive players with all around skills he melts down from time to time. As the game is getting more sophisticated and competitive, defensive play can only carry you so far.

Collin is holding Ben down, everyone is showing that the gap is closing. If Ben wants to try and keep winning and stay on top he needs to drop his brother

Ben has been talking about the advantages of a leftie on the right. It might be the time to think about it. Ge is a good candidate.

Ben isn't as dominant as the other players continue to improve. They may want to change style rather that partners. Even if they do nothing they're a great doubles team. Just not a lock for gold after gold.

Eh, Ben played very poorly in this one. Atleast to his standards. The Johns bros will watch this and be ready for the next time they play.

Love to see Matt without the dead weight of Newman! He was really being held back by Riley .
@ParryPickleballking-es2el7 ай бұрын
100%..... Imagine Riley thinking it was Matt holding him back. Not sure how that equates when you get 95% of the balls. 🤔
@FinanceFundamentals77 ай бұрын
colin is holding the team back, his reset is phenomenal but he can't generate offense and he's bad at responding to opponent's offense(speedups) and ben has to cover so much court

Great offensive lobs! A shot that is demonized all too often, but is def a weapon you want in your arsenal!
@williamdowling77187 ай бұрын
So silly to demonize any shot. Imagine someone getting bent out of shape because you faked down the line to get your opponent moving and then go inside in so the ball goes behind them. The entire point of the game is to hit the ball where it will be difficult or impossible to return. A lob is every bit as legitimate as a dink, drive, smash, atp, erne, burt, poach, or slice.

@@ParryPickleballking-es2el which part of their comment indicates anything about mobility issues? They just said it's demonized far too often. Obviously if you're playing with someone with mobility issues, that's a dick move... But the context here is a professional pickleball match, not a daytime open gym with a bunch of retired people.

@@williamdowling7718 at what other time would it be demonized?..... None. It would be like complaining that a guy speeds up too much.

Yeah the Johns Bros are going to have to make some adjustments. Collin has good counters and resets but it seems he has lots of trouble producing his own offense. Admittedly I’m a newer player so this will come across basic. It looks as if the Johns Bros are too content with grinding out dinks, and hoping someone pops up or ill advised speed up that will get countered. If it doesn’t happen as of late it seems they get into deep trouble or lose all together. I’m not saying abandon their game but some adjustments for sure because the gap is closing fast
@lazyhusband6 ай бұрын
Collin’s counters and resets are average now. He’s half asleep all the time. He treats it like a practice session.
@joshc.67066 ай бұрын
@@lazyhusband so that’s fair. I wonder if they are starting to get overwhelmed with power. To your point, Collin doesn’t look lost per se, but like he’s in slow motion trying to catch up at times. Just look at the players that have beaten them twice. Dekel Bar, Matt Wright, Andrei Daescu, and Gabe Tardio. Three of these have been known to play much more aggressive. Now with technology it’s becoming easier not to get in dinking battles with the Johns Bros, and it seems that they’re slow to adjust to the top end competitors. Their strategy will work in the earlier rounds but it’s clear people are finding holes.
@lazyhusband6 ай бұрын
@@joshc.6706 He’s hard to watch. I’m not even sure that he deserves to be drafted on a MLP Premier team anymore.
@joshc.67066 ай бұрын
@@lazyhusband I mean you’re not wrong. He seriously needs to revamp his game. People have already surpassed and if he doesn’t adjust, he quickly becomes irrelevant. One aspect people have forgotten to acknowledge I find is the mentality of their opponents. Now that they’ve lost consistently prior to championship Sunday, they look vulnerable. They’ve lost and at times lost bad. Everybody is like these guys are human and beatable. Goes such a long way in a match when the opponent realistically believes they can win

its a false advertisement by joola showing them fake hitting with gen 3 paddles..
@skylerperkins41117 ай бұрын
Some people saying Ben and Colin need to speed up their game. I’d prefer if they get out of their heads and double down in their engagement on dinking. If you don’t miss a dink for two games then increase the risk on placement to deter attacks and get pop ups.
