Public Health England argued N95 masks were not necessary before eventually backing down and ultimately rebranding. Tories were too busy seeking suppliers through their VIP fast track scheme which resulted in non compliant and useless PPE. It suited the government to have a debate while their incompetent VIP list were scratching their backsides as it distracted attention from them.

Yes, I agree that they very much do work- when the pandemic began some brave nurses dutifully stepped up to the situation and even made provocative humour to encourage hygeine compliance i.e. This is how you wash your hands, wear your mask with cleavage out to grab the attention of those with a shall we politely say, a significantly shorter attention span amongst the more resistant anti-adherants. They demonstrated how they don't restrict breathing with a literal video demonstration of little affect on respiration even with several applied to the dummy. PBS also put together videos on the vapour and perspiration of the droplets, one minute physics another content creator put together short videos explaining how the woven fiber worked to trap the particulate. What is disgusting is the lengths the government has gone to remove themselves of accountability / responsibility for a lack of action and dodgy dealings.
